The Weekly Read, Will It Go Around in Circles?

    in Current Events

Well, the wheels on the clown car go round & round some more as a few more shrimps have been tossed onto the Republican race "barbee".  Rand Paul now has Rick Santorum, George Pataki, and Mike Huckabee have added their names to the still growing list.  Even without the expected additions of Jeb Bush and Chris (Krispee Kreme) Christie, the total is now NINE with the announcement yesterday that all grown up "Dill Harris" from To Kill A Mockingbird Lindsay Graham, has joined in.  Can ANY of these folks really expect to taken more seriously than Martin O'Malley over on the Democratic side?  Is it me, or has the whole Presidential election process just become friggin' ridiculous?  It is like watching an episode of "Dukes of Hazard" where Bo and Luke are constantly doing the same things & Roscoe can't catch, even though they drive the same car, down the same road, each and every show!
In social IRRELIVANT news, Bruce Jenner has become a woman..., other than never eating Wheaties again, why do I have to give a flying fudge cone?  For some reason, people on social media are all flustered about this.  You all have to unplug from the lifestyles of the rich and useless. Since winning the Decathlon in 1976, what ELSE has this man done to warrant our attention?
Focusing on the major and sometimes overlooked topics affecting us in America today, the Nitelifer Circle of Sanity examines what is going on in Baltimore MD, Seattle WA, and all parts of the country in between.  The “Media” is or isn't talking about it, but regardless, The Nitelifer Circle of Sanity is! We hope to enlighten and educate while delivering the seriousness of the issues with sarcasm and humor.  Whether it is politics or social issues, The Nitelifer Circle of Sanity will be there.

Ten Ways to Spot Medical Misinformation

    in Health

According to the medical cartels nearly everyone with a pulse is abnormal and is in need of pharmaceuticals, surgery to replace or take out a body part or a change in diet that includes nutrients and package foods they happen to sell.

Mark Twain said: “If your doctor doesn’t read the medical literature, he is uninformed. If he does read the medical literature, he is misinformed.”

How does an average person sort out who/what to believe with such a overabundance of faked research, misunderstood studies and deliberate big business bias and spin. How can anyone who is bombarded daily in print, online and TV, learn to discern the difference between trustworthy advice and medical propaganda?

    Sound Health Options

Malcolm Kendrick, MD graduated from medical school in Aberdeen and trained as a General Practitioner in Scotland. Join us as we discuss his latest book, Doctoring Data:  How to sort out medical advice from medical nonsense in which he offers the public 10 ways to spot counterfeit research and deliberate medical fraud.

800 Anniversary of Magna Carta, the preamble to our democracy

    in Politics Conservative

"The democraticaspiration is no mere recent phase in human history...it was written in Magna Carta." - Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 1941 Inaugural Address

Stephen Smith will be joining us "In the Pickle Barrel" to help us understand the ancestor of the American Democratic Experiment. Although Magna Carta was not perfect (what really is?), it set in motion a stream of changes that were the basis of the Constitution of the United States of America.

    Former Alabama Senator Lowell Barron

    in Politics

In this episode of Bringing Voices To Power I talk with one of Alabama's most powerful politicians former Senator Lowell R. Barron.  Barron is a former Democratic politician, businessman who was a member of the Alabama Senate, and represented the 8th District since 1982. He was elected President Pro Tem of the Alabama Senate from 1999 to 2007, and after having served seven terms in the state Senate, was defeated by 628 votes in the 2010 general election. Barron represented Alabama's 8th Senate district  which includes all of Jackson County and parts of Dekalb and Madison Counties. He was elected Mayor of Fyffe in 1968, a position he held until 1982, when he was first elected to the Alabama Senate. After his first year in the Senate, he was not selected as the Democratic nominee. Subsequently, he waged the state's first and only successful write-in campaign for the Alabama Legislature and won the Democratic nomination. He encourged people to write in "Lowell Barron" with the "itty bitty pencils" which his campaign distributed, and his write-in campaign still stands as one of the most successful in American history. While the Senate district contained three counties (DeKalb, Jackson and parts of Madison), he recieved write-in votes in 26 of Alabama's 67 counties.

"The Great Atlanta Massacre" (Educators Under Attack)

    in Education

By now, you are aware of the 11 Educators in the Atlanta Public School System who were found guilty under the "Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Ac (RICO). What you probably don't know, are the facts as recorded by those involved. (Click to download "20 Facts about the Great Atlanta Massacre of Black Educators")

NCEBC wants to welcome the full village to question, understand, and support these martyrs who are standing on the basic democratic principles of equity, fairness, and justice. It is important (if not, vital) that we have this conversation to continue to dispel the myth that black children are incapable of achieving high test scores.

"We believe in accountability. We believe that data drives decision-making. We believe in research-based practices. These principles have been used for generations by high performing schools, Principals and Superintendents; especially those working and succeeding in urban communities where poverty and race are the dominant elements. This conversation is about the politics, power, economics, and restructuring of a public school system into a charter school system."

Diana Daniels, Executive Director National Council on Educating Black Children

    Sunday on the Front Stoop

    in Energy

We would like to see a major change in politics.  We would like to see all political parties eliminated.  NO Republican Party - NO Democratic Party - No Green Party - NOTHING !  Anyone who wants to run for any political position can!  We will be told their names and what their ideas are - PERIOD !  We have believed for a long time that especially the two major political parties are like two GANGS.  The Republicans stand for one thing - the Democrats stand for something else.  Regardless of which party you associate with, you better not cross any lines and think for yourself or the rest of the GANG will say you're wrong.  Why do we need Political Parties???
