ENVISION THIS: Hemp is the billion-dollar plant that’s going to change our diet and farms, help restore our soil, and wean us from petroleum.
Doug Fine is a comedic investigative journalist, bestselling author, and solar-powered goat herder. His new book, Hemp Bound: Dispatches from the Front Lines of the Next Agricultural Revolution explains his advocacy of commercial hemp. In his travels to meet the leading hemp growers and researchers worldwide, he has become an expert on sustainable applications—and the policies that are keeping this bountiful plant out of American farmers’ fields and the profit across international borders.
In Hemp Bound, Doug explains that “Hemp’s fibers are among the planet’s strongest, its seed oil the most nutritious, and its potential as an energy source vast and untapped.” He also explains hemp’s one downside: “For nearly a century, it’s been effectively illegal to grow industrial cannabis in the United States—even though Betsy Ross wove the nation’s first flag out of hemp fabric. Thomas Jefferson composed the Declaration of Independence on it, and colonists could pay their taxes with it. But as the prohibition on hemp’s psychoactive cousin winds down, one of humanity’s longest-utilized plants is about to be reincorporated into the American economy.”
Fine has reported for The Washington Post, Wired, Salon, The New York Times, Outside, National Public Radio, and U.S. News & World Report. He is the author of three previous books: Too High to Fail: Cannabis and the New Green Economic Revolution; Farewell, My Subaru: An Epic Adventure in Local Living; and Not Really an Alaskan Mountain Man.
On today's blog Arthur will be speaking about policy. He will be asking "what is your policy?" and "what's in your policy manual?" Policy is a course of action. Policy is a practice, custom, procedure or conduct of an individual. Policy is a principle or protocol to guide decisions and achieve outcomes. When you know what your policies are you can set boundaries and clear goals that will lead to your success. You can also write your own policy manual. Arthur's ideas will help stimulate your thinking about your priorities, decisions, and how to achieve the outcomes you desire in your life

An elderly minority woman of the Maseryk Towers in NYC was illegally evicted from her home without proper eviction notices or prior notification of any pending litigations, and when she requested a copy of the co-op's Board's policies and a copy of her signed lease to review their policy on eviction, she is met with stall tactics on the requested documents and no entry to her home. Is the average civilian's lack of understanding to legal jargon, agency protocol and hidden clauses gives the "authorities" the advantage of achieving their goals without the expectation of a fight for their victims' rights? join in tonight to share your thoughts by calling 347-327-9967.

In the first of three episodes regarding the Coffee Party USA and its members, we looked at the history, from the origins in January, 2010 to the current day goings-on. Begun as a citizen response to outrage against a government and its policies regarding such seminal issues as immigratiion, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, to the inequalities at home in our land, The Coffee Party USA has become a microcosm of America, and American political life itself.
Join us today as we consider and discuss why we, each of us as citizen should care about Coffee Party USA, what it is currently experiencing, and what might be a course moving forward into a better tomorrow through civil discourse, and definitive calls to action for its membership, and our nation.
