Mon, 5/02 -Barnhouse Radio Presents Maia Koz, The Night Owl Conservative Podcast

    in Social Sciences

Welcome to the New World! Check Your Brain and Ideology at the Door!

In case you haven't picked it up, this election is about more than two or more opposing views on how to regain the values and principles that have been under attack even before Obama came strutted into the Oval Office. The media would have you believe this is simply a case of choosing between a celebrity and a patriot, others would tell you it's about loyalty to a party's principles. You'd be right, but pay attention, because it's about so much more.
Here, we'll talk about how to recognize the soothing tones of agenda-driven iconoclasts, who entice you with EVERYTHING you want to hear, and the TRUTHS you have chosen to believe, to satisfy your ideology, belief systems, and cultural identity, and keep you off the trail of corruption taking place in this country.

Because we know you. We know who you are, and we know what you want.

You want to be appeased, comforted, reassured that your life of victimization justifies your actions.
You want to be guaranteed that after this election, you'll be able to get back to your lives, where faith, family and values, will once again take precedence over discussions on vigilance and protection of the documents that made your lives possible.
    You want to earn your living, or you don't;
You want to be able to live and breathe without having to apologize for every word that comes out of your mouth. Or you couldn't care less.
You want the respect you extend to others. Or the only respect you care about is the kind you receive through intimidation and fear.
You want your children to live a good life. Or you don't want them to live at all.

There's a knock at the door, and it ain't AVON. Awaken, sleeper.

Fortunately, America still gravitates towards leaders with a great love and respect for family, values and principles according to the tenets of "conservatism." So when Beck announced his endorsement for GOP candidate, Ted Cruz,  a new line of dissension was drawn, highlighting theology and doctrine.
Wednesday, April 20, at 7pm (CST), you're invited to learn and share information on the theology of these two men - Glenn Beck, a well-known tv/internet host and professed Mormon, and Ted Cruz, whose faith is based on the teachings of his father, an ordained minister.
The contrasts and comparisons of these two faiths are being presented to:
    1. inform and educate the audience about the partnership that has developed, and
    2. Discuss whether "Full Disclosure" should expected and/or "required" from our politicians, especially when their faith has the potential of redefining the principles and values of this country.

HEROIN: A NEW LOOK AT ADDICTION AND ITS TREATMENT

    in Entertainment

Former heroin user, Maia Szalavitz, one of the premier American journalists covering addiction and drugs today visits The Halli Casser-Jayne Show, Wednesday, April 13, 3 pm ET to talk about her new, highly-controversial book UNBROKEN BRAIN: A REVOLUTIONARY NEW WAY OF UNDERSTANDING ADDICTION.

With addiction running rampant in our society, what better time to take a look at the Addiction Movement? Szalavitz who at one point in her storied drug career was shooting up as much as 40 times a day challenges both the idea of the addict’s “broken brain” and the simple notion of an “addictive personality.” The author of HELP AT ANY COST the first book-length expose of the “tough love” business that dominates addiction treatment, her work appears in publications such as Time dot com, the New York Times, Scientific American, Elle, VICE, and New York magazine, among others. She is a 2015-2016 Soros Justice Fellow.

Is addiction trapped in outdated twentieth-century ideas and in equally antiquated treatment? Are Alcoholic’s Anonymous and other treatment modalities outdated? A conversation about heroin, painkiller overdoses, addictive behavior, legalization of marijuana and treatment, Wednesday, April 13, 3 pm ET with author Maia Szalavitz on The Halli Casser-Jayne Show.
