"Marriage Over Friendship" - COCKTAIL CONVERSATIONS on KLJN 107.7

    in Relationships

Its Wedding season and more choices are too be made.  Would you cut off your friend of almost 20 years to marry your fiance of 2 yrs who is jealous and controlling?

Lets look at this Scenario #  - 52 Marriage Over Friendship.

Sometimes friendships don’t last. Derek and Kelly have been friends for over seventeen years and during those times they had a few moments between them, but nothing too serious. Derek was more of a mentor for Kelly as she moved up the professional ladder. Derek gave her the blueprint and she followed it and her career took off.

When Kelly started dating her soon to be insecure, controlling husband, Ralph, things changed between Kelly and Derek. One day Derek left a message from Kelly’s phone joking with her, something they both did to each other, and Ralph got the message and called Derek up going off without Derek getting in a word. But at times, Derek felt like he was going to have to step to Ralph and kick his ass, but he was more of a professional to behave like that.

The last straw to Derek and Kelly’s friendship ending was the fact that she got married. Derek did not get a personal invitation. Kelly sent the invitation to Derek’s mother who lives in another state. Derek felt like he deserved better and he did not attend the wedding and has not spoken to Kelly since then, which was over eight years ago. Is Derek wrong for feeling bitter?

Let's discuss this situation right now on COCKTAIL CONVERSATIONS on KLJN 107.7.

A key problem for these veterans is resume preparation, and tailoring them to the jobs they are seeking.

Samiyyah Saafir-Muhammad was born Jacqueline Glover in New York City in 1951. After spending her early years in foster care, moving four times before the age of three, she settled in with her aunt, following her father’s passing.

While still in elementary school Samiyyah took an interest in helping other students do well, joining “The Future Teachers’ Club” in the fifth grade. As a high school student, Samiyyah became aware her people’s struggle for freedom—witnessing civil rights demonstrations, protests, assassinations and riots—and decided she wanted to help somehow.  It was in this atmosphere that she went off to Northeastern University in Boston where she majored in Education. Her stay there was short-lived, however, as she was introduced to the teachings of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad and thereafter joined the Nation of Islam. Within the Nation of Islam’s Muhammad University, Samiyyah underwent educational training and worked as a teacher’s assistant.

Since 2005, Samiyyah has had the privilege of serving as the Directress at Muhammad University of Islam in Atlanta, which serves students from Pre-K to the eighth grade. She has been blessed to carry on the 84-year educational tradition, which was started by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and his brave followers in the 1930’s.

A widow after 35 years of marriage, Samiyyah presently enjoys the blessing of her and her husband’s nine children: six sons and three daughters, all of whom attended or are attending HBCUs. Samiyyah has been a mother to not only her nine children, but also to her two stepchildren, her nieces and nephews, her eight grandchildren and countless other children and adults in the community who come to her for advice, wisdom and guidance. "Blood Is Thicker Than Water" - COCKTAIL CONVERSATIONS with KLJN 107.7

    in Radio

Welcome and thank you for listening to COCKTAIL CONVERSATIONS with The Controversial Counselor. Its Graduation Time and decision and choices need to be made about the graduates future.

In Scenario 11 Blood is Thicker Than Water, Brianna has to make a major decision between Dad and Step dad.

Graduation time was meant to be good times, but in this case, someone had to deal with pain and betrayal. Brianna was graduating from high
school, but due to the shortage of tickets given out by her high school, four tickets, she had a major decision to make. One ticket went to her mother
Helen, two other tickets went to her grandparents, that means she had only one ticket left. Certainly, that ticket should go to her stepdad Eric
who has been a part of her life since she was three years old and has been the only Dad she knows.

Her biological dad was informed by his sister that his precious daughter who he had nothing to do with throughout her life would be graduating from high school, so Leon contacted her two days before graduation and stated he wanted to start over and very much would like to attend the ceremony. Brianna was confused but always wanted that love and acceptance from Leon, so she told her mother that she wanted her dad to attend the graduation. Helen informed Eric of the news and he was devastated and upset. Helen pretty much told him that this day was all about Brianna and he needs to build a bridge and get over it. What should Brianna do? Do you think Helen handled this situation correctly? Where does Eric go from here after being betrayed?
