    Deepertruth Wednesday Springfield remembered

    in Religion

The event was sponsored by the Marian Association of Southern Missouri headed by Father Vincent Bertrand (Deepertruth Chaplain) and Dr. Gregory Thompson.

I flew up to Springfield Missouri flying from Killeen Texas to Dallas and finally to Springfield.

I had the opportunity to meet Country and Western Singer Charley Pride and some of his band who also flew to Springfield Missouri for a concert.

While still waiting for my luggage at the Springfield airport, I found myself speaking with missionaries from Nicaragua and gave them a couple of my brochures I had on hand.  I wanted to ensure they heard a strong defense for the Catholic Faith.

Dr. Gregory Thompson met me at the Springfield airport and quickly took me to Mercy Hospital formerly known as St. Johns to go to a quick Mass.

The Hospital Chapel was by far the most beautiful church I've seen in a hospital location.

I went to Confession immediately following the Mass so I was able to receive two Sacraments before the weekend actually began.

He sent St. Augustine, “Apostle to the English” to England becoming the first Archbishop of Canterbury. Upon entering the England, King Ethelbert welcomed St. Augusting in the summer of 597 A.D. He told St. Augustine, “Your words are fair, but of doubtful meaning; I cannot forsake what I have so long believed. But as you have come from far we will not molest you; you may preach, and gain as many as you can to your religion.”

Deepertruth: A Catholic Responds To The Voice For Immunization 8:00 Central

    in Religion

Today I stumbled onto a Facebook page called "Voices For Vaccines" that caught my eye.  It was speaking against people of faith who are concerned with vacines with ingredients containing aborted fetal tissue and or birth control methods that would cause a spontaneous abortion (Miscarrage).  Tonight I invited Natalie Renee Steffens to come on Deepertruth to giver her response to the very debate I had today on the Facebeek page.  I think it is very important for people of faith to have the ability to know what is being mandated to the public for the public good.  In my evaluation, I recognize the good that vaccinations have been in preventive medical care, but the Government should seek means that are not controversial such as using aborted fetus tissue.

Deepertruth Saturday: The Donna Lee Story

    in Religion

Catholic Artist and composer Donna Lee Ackerman will appear on Deepertruth giving her testimony of conversion.  How she has risen from the world of pride and anger to the compasion of love and forgiveness.  Donna has given her life and talent for the upbuilding of the Kingdom.  Speaking of her faith, Donna states, "n a nutshell. I was raised Catholic. Left the church after high school. Made a lot of bad choices. I am pretty honest when I share. Had an abortion at age 22. Biggest regrets of my life. Never thought God would ever forgive me. Had a conversion by way of Medjugorje but I don't talk a lot about it because the church hasn't made a final decision yet. Had three failed marriages. Three annulments in the church. No other children. Living an authentic Catholic life for the past 4 years going to daily mass and frequent adoration."

Donna has become a great inspiration to so many through her music and testimony.

Deepertruth: The Farraajon Ibrahimova Conversion Story

    in Religion

Tonight on Deepertruth, I recently had the privilege of meeting the Ibragimova family while standing in the Confessional line.

Actually, waiting for Father to come in to hear Confessions and I met MRS Ibragimov.

I found out that her husband, Farraajon was from a city called Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

I was not too familiar with this Republic, so I did a little research.

Uzbekistan is literally in Central Asia and between 1924 and 1991, it was part of the Soviet Union.

    Deepertruth: My Christmas Timeline

    in Religion

We believe that Jesus Christ created a church that is the Pillar and Foundation of all truth, just as the Bible states. That we have an infallible Bible (and we do) is only because an infallible church gave it to us. That church-and only that Church- is fully and completely entrusted by God with the Scriptures and the Truths of Religion. Everyone else is guessing, to greater or less success, all falling short of the fullness of the truth of Catholicism.  March-April 2 B.C. “In the sixth month (since the announcement of John the Baptist-October 2 B.C.), the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, “Hail Full of Grace, the Lord is with you. But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom there will be no end.”
    (Luke 1:26-22)
