    in Music

A man need SPACE!. Space Author Deborah Tannen has written brilliantly on the masculine and feminine divide between independence and intimacy (masculine being primarily drawn towards independence and the feminine toward intimacy). Within all of my relationships and the vast majority of my clients, I consistently see that it is the feminine-associated female partner that wants more time spent together and the masculine-associated male partner wanting more time apart. There is no perfect balance to be found here. This will always be a balancing act of closeness and separateness. But rest assured, suffocating a man (either by failing to allow him free time or with overly jealous behaviour) is the fastest way to end a relationship. Men need breathing room in a relationship. We need time for our hobbies, time with our friends, and time to toil away on our projects to feel fulfilled. Traditionally, when women (or the feminine associated partner) needed to solve a problem, they would go further into the tribe – connecting with close friends and family and discussing their issues. Conversely, when men have a problem to solve, they would leave the tribe to be alone with their thoughts. So let him roam. Let him breathe. Leave him to his own devices. A man will be that much happier for you to receive him when he returns, knowing that you trust both him and the strength of your bond enough to let him have his space. - See more at: http://goodmenproject.com/featured-content/7-things-men-want-in-a-relationship-jgc/#sthash.4rGk6v25.dpuf

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1169

    in Self Help

SPECIAL TOPIC Night - OPEN MIKE SHOW - "For Our Kids" - Deborah Maddison and Tracy Baxter, Canadian activists from British Columbia, will join Bill Murray to lead this evening's discussion about the Rights of Children and Families in North America. This will be an open topic, Q & A discussion-style show, one without as clearly defined specific issues as our regular "For Our Kids" episodes. The "open mike" style show is looser than the planned ones we've been doing in this series, but we're hoping to attract call-in participants who wish to talk about their experience in dealing with "the system." Many of the institutions designed to serve and protect our children are in need of close scrutiny and examinations. Others are, in fact, denying the civil rights of our children. Some may need to be dismantled completely, replaced with organizations that actually have the needs of our kids, not themselves, at their core. There's been a lot of unnecessary suffering due to the fact that many such groups have commonly operated in an almost untouchable position in North America for decades, as if they were "above the law" .. and this has to stop. ~~ We're pleased "For Our Kids" co-host Deborah Maddison will be back for the next show. ~~ Every two weeks a new THEME will be presented in this series, with frequent special guests speaking from their own experience. ~~ Please see our web page at: www.NAASCA.org/ForOurKids or write to: naasca.forourkids@gmail.com

  • Wednesday Wisdom Radio ~ Loneliness vs. Being Alone

    in Women

Lots of time, no one to share the car with, the kitchen with, the groceries with...it's a new feeling for me, even though I've been a part time Mom (sharing parenthood with my daughters' dad) for several years.  Maybe it's the first time in many years without a lover/companion.  Or, it's the newness of both my daughters living away at college, needing me less and less.  (except when they DO need me!)   Let's talk about what it means when our roles and routines are shaken up by others and how we can use this time of our life for our reconnecting to our Essence.

  • Robots Are Here To Stay - Get Used to It

    in Technology

Ready for not driving yourself to work?  Or ready for not having work?  There are benefits and consequences ot this surge in robotic development - from Roombas to Androids - what is here, what is coming, and how will it impact our society and our work?  Tom and Deb from The Internet of Unintended Consequences (www.tiouc.com) interview Dr. Ayanna Howard from the Georgia Institute of Technology, to explore these questions and more - are you ready to interact with robots or we are likely to be replaced by them?

Dr. Ayanna Howard is the Motorola Foundation Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She received her B.S. in Engineering from Brown University, her M.S.E.E. from the University of Southern California, and her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California. Her area of research is centered around the concept of humanized intelligence, the process of embedding human cognitive capability into the control path of autonomous systems. This work, which addresses issues of intelligent control as well as aspects of human-robot interaction in real-world environments, has resulted in over 180 peer-reviewed publications in a number of projects – from scientific rover navigation in glacier environments to therapy robots for the home. Her unique accomplishments have been highlighted through a number of awards and articles, including  USA Today, Upscale, and TIME Magazine. In 2013, she also founded Zyrobotics, which is currently licensing technology derived from her research and has released their first suite of therapy and educational products for children with special needs. She is currently the Associate Director of Research for the Georgia Tech Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines.

A Just Cause - Executive Clemency

    in US Government

Sam Thurman, Cliff Stewart, Lisa Stewart and Lamont Banks of the Colorado exoneration firm A Just Cause, discuss what happens when the wheels of justice trample unbridled over the rights of innocent Americans.

Although the American system of justice is the most-respected worldwide, it is still a system designed, and operated, by humans, which means it's not perfect. Sam, Cliff, Lisa and Lamont will highlight ongoing struggles against "the system" to free wrongfully imprisoned people, and what happens when justice miscarries against an actually innocent person.

A Just Cause is currently campaigning for "FreeTheIRP6," who's been wrongly imprisoned in Florence, CO for a crime they didn't commit. Read full story: www.freetheirp6.org.
