Are you willing to put your life on the line for what you believe? Twelve advocates of supporting good neighborhood public schools have certainly done so. The Mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, wants to close Dyett public school, strategically located in the Hyde Park area bordering the Bronzeville community, forcing families to have to travel miles away from home to reach a nearby public school. In Chicago, traveling to outside neighborhoods could be fatal, given the unchecked gang violence that cost so many lives last school year. The bottom line issue is always money. The Dyett High school building would serve those well who want to include it in a real estate deal as the city negotiates space in Hyde Park for the new Presidential library. And as for the safety and education of the children? The city has chosen to ignore an excellent plan for the reopening Dyett as a Dyett Global Leadership and Green Technology School. Mr. Jitu Brown and Dr. Ayesha Wade Bey join us to give an update on the hunger strike.
Yzba asks: Seems like I have another question, or maybe a need to bitch about something. The tendency for some slash writers to feminize male characters. Particularly in the hp fandom, there’s this trend of giving Harry hips and long hair, It’s usually enough to make me close a fic really fucking fast. Lately, I’ve also seen it in other fandoms. Your thoughts?

Feels good, feels real good.

This week's Theme, brought to you from the ORACLE Speaks ORACLE Cards:
Intimacy is driven by our innate need to be held and smothered in love. Accept the truth of your overt vulnerability, exposed in all its glory. Allow for the genuine connection that comes with self love.
THIS IS A REPEAT SHOW (But a real good one!)
WORDS MAKE PEOPLE guest on Sunday August 30th is Dr. Debra Majeed of Beloit, WI (Beloit College). Join us from 1-3 p.m. (EST) on Station IWDM.
In June, the University Press of Florida will released “Polygyny: What It Means When African American Muslim Women Share Their Husbands” by Debra Majeed.
YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS THOUGHT PROVOKING INTERVIEW AND DISCUSSION ON A REAL-LIFE TOPIC.
The publisher’s description follows of this book states:
Debra Majeed sheds light on families whose form and function conflict with U.S. civil law. Polygyny–multiple-wife marriage–has steadily emerged as an alternative to the low numbers of marriageable African American men and the high number of female-led households in black America.
This book features the voices of women who welcome polygyny, oppose it, acquiesce to it, or even negotiate power in its practices. Majeed examines the choices available to African American Muslim women who are considering polygyny or who are living it. She calls attention to the ways in which interpretations of Islam’s primary sources are authorized or legitimated to regulate the rights of Muslim women. Highlighting the legal, emotional, and communal implications of polygyny, Majeed encourages Muslim communities to develop formal measures that ensure the welfare of women and children who are otherwise not recognized by the state.
Topic: A group of 12 black females all of whom were part of a book club, which consisted of 11 black females and one white female, were forcefully removed from a Napa Valley Wine Train because a white person complained that they were "being too loud."

*Due to the Last Show's Tech Issues and being cut short.....Let's try THIS again! Same topics (and More) REWIND!...sort of:
Howdy, folks. We're back after an understandable pre-emption due to last weekend's legendary Afropunk Festival held at Brooklyn's Commodore Barry Park. Check out our impressions of the event during the latest episode of Afronerd Radio's Grindhouse Mixtape airing this Saturday at 6pm EST. Join your hosts, Dburt, Daryll B and Capt. Kirk as they discuss the following issues: Dburt's thoughts on the escalation (and evolution) of the other Black experience commonly refered to as Afropunk; a St. Louis mother's empassioned rant critiquing the Black Lives Matter movement goes viral; futurist and entrepreneur, Elon Musk's vacuum travel project might be gaining more traction and viability; a belated hat tip to Shadow and Act for their highlighting of an upcoming film project about African American women who were NASA mathematicians during the Civil Rights era; and while films about Black genius are in development, memetic minstrelsy may get rewarded (again) with Straight Outta Compton garnering Oscar buzz (do they ever give awards that show AA communities in a good light?); DC's Vixen gets her animated closeup. And lastly, famed director, Steve McQueen with the assistance of Hollywood iconic actor/activist, Harry Belafonte may be gearing up to make a Paul Robeson biopic (Oscar, anyone?). Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.
In fact, because of this deep desire for peace, the ruling class leaders of this land, from 1945 on, stepped up the hysteria and propaganda to drive into American minds the false notion that danger threatened them from the East.-Paul Robeson
In 1967, William Dozier, creator of the Batman television series, concerned that the show’s ratings were falling, decided to introduce a female character on the side of law & order in an attempt to attract new viewers. He came up with Batgirl, who would help Batman & Robin in their crusade against the malign forces of “guest villains”. For this role, on a par with the caped crusader & the boy wonder, Dozier cast Yvonne Craig. Although Craig, who has died at 78, had then been acting in films and television for a decade, Batgirl gave Yvonne her greatest fame.
The Dynamic Duo became the Tremendous Trio when Craig first appeared in Enter Batgirl, Exit Penguin, aired on 14 September 1967, the start of the 3rd & last season. As Barbara, the librarian daughter of Commissioner Gordon, she's kidnapped by the Penguin, who bullies her into agreeing to marry him. However, unknown to everyone except Alfred, the faithful butler of the billionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne, Barbara has a secret crime-fighting identity. Inevitably, she escapes from the Penguin, & rescues the astonished Batman & Robin, who have been hopelessly strung up in the Penguin’s lair. Dressed in a tight-fitting purple and yellow bat outfit with pointy ears, & riding a purple, lace-trimmed motor Batcycle, Craig, playing it straight, immediately entered into the campy, satiric tone of the series. She was also able to match her two co-stars in the self-defence department, accompanied by such onomatopoeic on-screen graphics as POW!, WHAM! and CRR-ASH!.
“I think that they ultimately chose me because of my ballet background,” Craig recalled. “Though they didn’t want me to do my own stunts, I finally talked them into it.”
Join Richard with his special guest host, Robert Amberry, president of the Yvonne Craig Appreciation Society, in this special tribute to Yvonne and her career.
"The Nigger Marriage We breed two nigger males with two nigger females. Then we take the nigger males away from them and keep them moving and working. Say one nigger female bears a nigger female and the other bears a nigger male. Both nigger females being without influence of the nigger male image, frozen with an independent psychology, will raise their offspring into reverse positions. The one with the female offspring will teach her to be like herself, independent and negotiable (we negotiate with her, through her, by her, we negotiate her at will). The one with the nigger male offspring, she being frozen with a subconscious fear for his life, will raise him to be mentally dependent and weak, but physically strong, in other words, body over mind. Now in a few years when these two offspring's become fertile for early reproduction we will mate and breed them and continue the cycle. That is good, sound, and long range comprehensive planning. "
Why are we dealing with this uprising of homosexuality
