Join The Halli Casser-Jayne Show, Talk Radio for Fine Minds Wednesday, May 7 , 3 pm ET when Halli talks with bestselling authors about their biographies: Margaret Cardillo: “Just Being Audrey,” William J. Mann: “Hello Gorgeous, Becoming Barbra Streisand” and Bob Spitz: “Dearie, The Remarkable Life of Julia Child” and the three women born of a time when talent as well as style mattered, and when the pursuit of greatness, not infamy was rewarded.

“These three women couldn’t have been more different but they shared one thing in common: a pursuit of excellence with an equal respect for individualism,” says executive producer and host Halli Casser-Jayne. “In a world where the unique is too-often sublimated by sameness, these women have a lesson to teach us all.”

And who better to speak to the subject of celebrity then author Margaret Cardillo, a Michener Fellow at The University of Miami, author Bob Spitz who wrote the New York Times bestseller, “The Beatles,” and William J. Mann whose 2006 biography of Katharine Hepburn, “Kate: The Woman Who Was Hepburn” was named one of the 100 Notable Books of 2006 by the New York Times.

Hybrid Jazz - with Amy Cervini and Leonardo Lucini!

    in Music

Amazingly unique talent abounds on the next show!  First is the Toronto-born, New York-based vocalist and instrumentalist, Amy Cervini.  Acclaimed by multiple publications, Amy cut her teeth on classical piano - then moved onto sax and a membership within the Toronto All Star Big Band.

She auditioned at the New England Conservatory on alto sax, but one of the instructors asked her if she could sing.  She offered "Bye, Bye Blackbird" and wowed the panel.  In Boston, she learned that singing felt more natural than merely playing - but in playing she had found her "voice" (as it were) regarding the ability to be a bandleader.

Her fourth project drops on 2/18/2014 - and we're going to celebrate!  This decidedly independent talent hears Jazz differently and we're about to hear why Amy frequently starts her live shows with "Don't Fence Me In."  Her new CD?  It's titled, "Jazz Country!"  Hah!

Leonardo Lucini is another one of those fabulous HYBRIDS that we love!  A most respected bassist, he is also an educator of note.  He and his brothers, Alejandro and Bruno, form the group called Origem.  So authentic is their blend of native Brazilian sounds that the Washington, D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities awarded a grant to the family in order to complete a musical project.  That CD, "Ijexa", was released in the late 90's.

There can't be enough said about Leo...as well as the above, he is also a composer and arranger - who has worked with Nestor Torres, Benito Gonzalez, Federico Pena and more.  And having been a member of the Howard University Jazz Ensemble, he has been in the company of Legends.

On 2/22, both Leo and Alejandro will be featured as "The Brazil Project" at An die Musik in Baltimore.  He'll take it from there!  Get ready for an exciting Tuesday!
