"The Echo From Dealey Plaza, Part II" -- With JFK S. S. Agent Abraham Bolden

    in Politics Progressive

Your host, Bob Kirkconnell is thrilled that we are able to have JFK Secret Service Agent Abaham Bolden on the program again!  Bob will introduce him and then Abraham will share some of his experiences and insights.  Questions from Bob and callers will follow.

Abraham was the first African American Secret Service Agent on the Presidential detail.  He joined the JFK detail in 1961.  After the assassination, he disclosed a Chicago plot to assassinate JFK and also racism, and serious security short comings in the Secret Service.  What happened to him is the subject of this show and we are honored to have Abraham on the program!  Listeners are encouraged do some research ahead of time.  Below is a review of his book: The Echo From Dealey Plaza.

    From Publishers Weekly

Conspiracy theories haunt the Kennedy assassination; Bolden offers a new one, concerning discrimination and evidence suppression. Becoming, in JFK's words, the Jackie Robinson of the Secret Service, Bolden joined the White House detail in 1961. Already beset by racism (he once found a noose suspended over his desk), his idealism is further shattered by the drinking and carousing of other agents. Soon after the assassination, he receives orders that hint at an effort to withhold, or at least to the color, the truth. He discovers that evidence is being kept from the Warren Commission and when he takes action, finds himself charged with conspiracy to sell a secret government file and sentenced to six years in prison, where both solitary confinement and the psychiatric ward await. That there was a conspiracy to silence him seems unarguable, but Bolden's prose is flat; so is his dialogue. This story is more enthralling than Bolden's telling of it, but the reader who sticks with it will enter a world of duplicitous charges and disappearing documents fit for a movie thriller...

Echo From Dealy Plaza - Part 2

He tried to do his job - he tried to protect the Presidency.  Instead of thwarting an assassination, and receiving the gratitude of a nation, Secret Service Agent Bolden was imprisoned and President Kennedy was killed.  It's an old story - but is it really?

We love mysteries. They appeal to some of the most basic aspects of our psyche - problem solving, trial and error, and logic. And while we strive to solve all mysteries known to us, there are some instances where we are not satisfied with the answer, instead digging deeper to try to find what we think to be the truth, unsatisfied until we get confirmation of our beliefs.

This week on One Cell One Light Radio, Dr. Hildy welcomes T. Matthew Phillips, trial attorney, and theorist of the truth behind one of the greatest mysteries of modern times - the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963.

Achieving Automation, Functional Safety, and Efficiency in Commercial Vehicles

    in Technology

In an environment of growing safety concerns, decreasing driver resources, increasing infrastructure congestion, and rising costs, it has become more important than ever that the commercial vehicle industry find new ways to innovate. The top trucking OEM’s are working tirelessly to develop automation to allow for increased fleet efficiency, maximized driver productivity, better fuel economy, and above all safety.

While the autonomous truck has been defined as the way forward to achieve these outcomes, the technology is still far from flawless and not ready for full implementation. There are a variety of critical challenges ranging from software capabilities to hardware competencies and onto strategic planning inhibitors preventing this technology from complete adoption.

Join Melissa Birnie and Alan Korn, Director of Vehicle Dynamics and Control at Meritor WABCO on Nov 6th at 1:30 P.M. as they talk about The Autonomous Trucks 2015 Conference taking place from Nov 11th-15th @ the Crown Plaza in Detroit, where IQPC is bringing together the most motivated and forward-thinking OEMs, Suppliers, and Thought Leaders to work collectively and overcome these challenges and define the path to realize the infinite safety and efficiency benefits that come with integration of this disruptive technologies.

Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey - with Gerald Veasley!

    in Music

Now, you KNOW that this host/producer is loving the idea of a Philly Phriend on the show, right?  Ha Ha!  Gerald Veasley is not only a superb, globally known bassist - and overseer of a fabulously successful Bass Boot Camp each year - but you might remember him as an integral on-air personality at the former WJJZ in The City of Brotherly Love.  Our similar WSMJ was right down the road in Baltimore.  So, GV and I have a teensy weensy bit to discuss in THAT area :)

The reason for this special Wednesday show is because of Gerald's series of shows at a new venue in our shared hometown.  "South" is generating MUCH buzz - because of its unbelievable food and it's JAZZ!  Already, our guest has hosted Alex Bugnon - and he's about to welcome Karen Briggs on 10/22!  Other guests on the horizon include the luminous Carol Riddick, Marion Meadows, Kirk Whalum and James Lloyd - some of your absolute, long-time favorite artists.

As you probably know, Gerald had a great partnership with the late/great Joe Zawinul - he played bass with Joe for seven years.  He also played with Odean Pope's Saxophone Choir.  And launched his solo career in 1992.  Two handfuls of projects later, he has NOT slowed down.  One of the highlights of time spent at the Berks Jazz Festival was enjoying the Jams within the Crowne Plaza in Reading.  There, Gerald held court - with a myriad of household names stopping by to play. So, it's a no-brainer that the owners of "South" would tap our friend to invite pals to participate in the new renaissance happening for Jazz in Philly.  The creation of a venue like this means a LOT to those of us who love the genre.  Orrin Evans is actually doing his own series there - with "the other side of the aisle" in terms of style.  ALL kinds of Jazz!

See you on 10/21 at ONE p.m. Eastern - GV joins us then!
