Our guests this morning are Martin Holmes and Nils Nehrenheim from the community group, Rescue our Waterfront.
Martin is a cofounder of Rescue Our Waterfront. He lives in Redondo Beach and enjoys spending time at the Redondo Pier and Riviera Village. Martin graduated from MIT with a degree in aerospace engineering. Today he works for the Air Force and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in systems engineering at USC. In his free time, he travels the world, snowboards, sails, and kayaks.
As a life-long South Bay resident, Nils Nehrenheim has lived, worked and played throughout the South Bay. Redondo Beach is near and dear to his daily life. Being a small business owner in Redondo, and an LA County Lifeguard on the local beaches, he exemplifies the South Bay way of life and understands what makes living here so special. He jumped into local politics during the successful fight against Measure B, then became one of the leaders of another community group, Save The Riviera's fight against the Legado project. He is now taking that combined experience to work with Rescue Our Waterfront.
This morning, we’re going to discuss the Waterfront project proposed by CenterCal and the goals of Rescue Our Waterfront.

In autumn of 1943, a lone allied soldier parachutes into Greece. His stated goal: to build an airstrip for the British. Brendon O'Malley is an Irishman, and he soon discovers that fighting the Nazis is not the same as embracing the British, who have seriously misled him about his mission.
The Devil Takes Half: (Starred Review) "Serafim's dense prose is perfect for lovers of literary and scholarly mysteries. Her plotting is methodical and traditional, with subtle nods to Sherlock Holmes, Greek mythology, and historical events." --Library Journal

Jose discovered a love of movies early on after tragic circumstances made him want to escape from the real world. Since the age of five Jose had not felt comfortable in the real world, preferring fiction to reality, and leaving all the messy real life stuff for his lovely wife Jessica to deal with. He has been making films and writing since 2000, when he published his first novel, THE HARBINGER and made his first film, the sci-fi spoof THE MONSTER MAN. Since then, he has gone on to make a name for himself in the genre world including writing and directing the Asylum’s best-reviewed horror film, THE HAUNTING OF WHALEY HOUSE and writing the best-selling novels, SHARCANO, about sharks from hell threatening the apocalypse, and ELEMENTARY, MY DEAR WATSON, a school-aged look at Sherlock Holmes and John Watson’s early adventures together. His most recent film, THE DIVINE TRAGEDIES, is playing at festivals, and he is currently busy on a myriad of projects. "The Divine Tragedies" was a 2015 Shriekfest Official Selection!
This is a special 2 hour segment of "The Mind Beneath the School". We will disect the miseducation of the Afrikan scholar in Philadelphia. First, we will define "miseducation" to ensure we are all on the same page. Then with the help of ancestors Carter G. Woodson, Asa Hilliard, and John Henrik Clarke, along with Dr. Umar Johnson and Noam Chomsky we will really go all in and uncover the who, what, when, where, and how of this same said miseducation. I will also unveil, "Mama's 10 Point Plan" agenda which I will present at all neighborhood meetings, (listen to Short Walk...Part 1), and anywhere I feel it will have a forum in which it will be received.
The second hour will deal with "Special Education, a whole new miseducation of the Afrikan Scholar". This is a piece I will be discussing a lot. In order to understand the true nature of special education and the Afrikan scholar you must have an understanding of the racist structure that put it in place under the guise of specialized education andrecognize buzz words like "differentiated instruction".
I will also have special guest and former scholar of mine Tierra Holmes. She will be discussing graduating from Howard University and whats in her future. This show will be informative and entertaining I promise. So stop by so we can once again uncover "The Mind Beneath the School".

This Monday is a brand new episode of Graphic Policy Radio and joining us are the team behind the webcomic Bash Back. The comic is described as "a story of the Queer Mafia" from the minds and creativity of writers Kelsey Hercs and Lawrence Gullo and artist Fyodor Pavlov. The webcomic is updated each Monday.
After thousands of years of bloodshed, torment, and ridicule, now is the time to take what is ours. Bash Back comic is a cathartic, hyper-violent, contemporary queer revenge fantasy.
Kelsey Hercs is a playwright and performer based in New York City. Bash Back is her first foray into writing for comics, and she is thrilled that this project is the one she's cutting her comic-writing teeth on.
Russian emigre Fyodor Pavlov is a freelance illustrator, comic artist and smut peddler. In print, Pavlov’s work can be found in Sherlock Holmes Mystery Magazine, The Ouroboros Cycle, Queerotica: A Comics Anthology, and more. His latest comics foray is the art of Bash Back. Together with his husband and creative partner Lawrence Gullo, he co-directs Dr. Sketchy's NYC, throws costume parties and raises a very spoiled cat.
Lawrence Gullo - Writer, colorist, and graphic design for Bash Back. Artist and performance artist. Speaker on transgender issues.
