Invictus Read by David Little Eagle

    in Politics Progressive

    Music by David Little Eagle:
    The Wounded Healer and Ancestral

Invictus Read by David Little Eagle
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
    For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
    Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

    William Ernest Henley

    David Little Eagle Reads Why?

    in Politics Progressive

Why do you touch me that way?
Why do you hurt me, and make me bleed?
Did Jesus tell you to do this?
Did God command the taking of my sanity?
    I am a child.
I do not know of the things that make someone mean.
I know the tears that fall like stormy rain from my haunted eyes - and the shame of not knowing why.
I am told to trust you, and yet I cannot understand the taking of my soul...
Is it my fault? Have I done something wrong? Have I committed a sin - to be punished this way?
FORGIVE ME, PLEASE! Don't hurt me anymore! I won't do it again! Pleeeese stop, Stop, STOP!
Bless me father, for I have sinned - born a child with no choice but to be.
HELP ME, GOD! WHERE ARE YOU? WHY HAVE YOU ABANDONED ME?
Oh my God, what have I done?
The pain is too great - my grave is before me. I have no place to go but down...
Helping hands reach out, but the pit is too deep...
Religion has bound me to this bed - I cannot rise.
I feel so alone - Can someone help me, please...?

The Shadows of War Written and Read by David Little Eagle

    in Politics Progressive

    The Shadows Of War...
    by David Little Eagle
War leaves shadows of dark red -
on the streets and fields of horror.
Men fight, but women fall prey to the violence
of men, and the children are left alone in the nightmares of aloneness.
The killing fields can be of grass or asphalt,
and the wholesale murderers of humanity take the trees to the slaughter.
Crimes against Earth and Sky - All In Between with painted targets
    on their hearts,
eyes of hatred gleaming with malicious intent -
humanity ceasing and skinwalker darkness robbing the spirit of all.
Destruction and deconstruction, projects of madmen with seared consciences -
none are safe, and the innocent die in the shadows of warriors both good and bad.
Shadows cast, but not by light of sun.
Shadows and more shadows - red turning black under the Moon that rises -
a witness to the atrocities of humanity against humanity,
and against All Our Relations of the Earth.
The shadows of war, monuments to no greatness, but to the darkness
    of the human heart.
Peace, worthy Dream, come to us, the children of Earth and Sky -
That all the children of Earth and Sky will no longer be ravished
     in the red-turned-black
    shadows of war...

Remembering The Forgotten By David Little Eagle

    in Politics Progressive

Remembering The Forgotten... by David Little Eagle Wounded Knee, culmination of centuries of death and sorrow,
    may I come to you?
Sleeping in the heart of Unci Maka, the Ancestors stir, singing the old songs of the Oyate - a song of remembering.
I see them dancing - the power of the Sacred overwhelming.
Dreaming of you, oh Wounded Knee,
I see the Baoruco Mountains, Sand Creek, Mystic, Bear Butte, the Black Hills and Big Mountain.
I see the Buffalo and the deer dancing the dance of remembering.
I hear the Eagles cry... You are remembered by the children, oh Wounded Knee -
the mainstream blinded by complicit deceit, but there is power in the truth.
    Do I mourn?
    Do I grieve?
    Perhaps a little of both.
But in my remembering, I rejoice for the strength of The People -
through the ages; tormented and ignored; sought out for the slaughter.
    We will NOT die.
We shall live, and see the Sun rising in the East -
new beginings when the greedy have gone to their ideas of "heaven"
    or "hell".
We remember the forgotten, for the forgotten live on in the heart of forever...

When I Met God... by David Little Eagle

    in Politics Progressive

When I Met God... Writen and Proformed by David Little Eagle Not what I expected -
    a deity dressed in black.
Told that He created the world in six days,
with such loving care, I wondered: What happened?
For now I look upon a devastated Earth - a Sky choking to death on poisons of governmental and corporate ideas of "progress".
God wore black robes, and murdered the daughters of Earth, carrying a sword to slaughter the sons of Sky -
The children were sacrificed when God showed his face - no answer given as to why.
The God of theoretic love became the dog of factual war, and when I met Him, his face was painted red - his cruel hands dripping with blood.
God's introduction brought destruction - and I can't believe, I can't believe, I can't believe! Gospel, good news, bad news, new life, actual death - I can't take it anymore! psychopathic deity, take your Thorazine, go to sleep and leave us alone!
I met what passed for God, and saw insanity. I want to be held in the beauty of the Sacred, and find peace in the balance of Natural Truth.
I met God, and I'm sorry I did - flamboyant sociopath dressed in black robes of excuses - when undressed, He looks like a man - and as ugly as any imagined hell. Go away and don't come back! I wish I had never met this cosmic Jekyll and Hyde. By any name not sweet - Your vicars made yours bitter - a cosmic tyrant in man's own image created:
    Genocidal,
    Odious
    Deity...
    -God-
