In 2003, Sensei Figgiani created a program along with the help of Assistant Principal Chuck Morea from Longwood High School and Police Athletic League Coordinator Don Yorie to develop a program that would improve academic achievement through the study of martial arts. Through this program, Sensei Figgiani teaches character education, leadership skills, and nonviolent conflict resolution to high school students in Suffolk County, New York. His rapport with the students has enabled this program to reach the level of success it currently has. Due to the success of this program, it has now expanded into eight different school districts throughout Suffolk County. The R.E.A.C.H. 1-(646)-716-6825 Modern Combat Masters Host, Professor Darrell Sarjeant, and his Co-Host, Kancho, Dan Vena, along with our Executive Producer, Sifu Restita DeJesus will have Mark Barlow Hanshi on the program.Mark Barlow Martial Arts Bio, I was fortunate to train with Alex Marshall for almost twenty years in Judo and Jujutsu. Through Marshall Sensei, I was also able to train and earn black belts with Toshi Takikawa Sensei in his family's Jujutsu system and Tetsuro Nariyama Sensei in Tomiki/Shodokan Aikido. While I've been able to study under several excellent instructors, my initial training with Marshall Sensei has provided me with the strongest motivation and direction. His Jujutsu system, Akayama Ryu, has remained focused on practical and efficient self defense and has gained popularity with both civilians and law enforcement. Upon Mr. Marshall's death, I became the Senior Instructor.Since the early 80's, I've hosted national camps on the Gulf Coast featuring Jujutsu, Judo, Aikido, Hapkido and various other arts. We stress no politics, limited ego and great training. All styles and ranks are welcome. All that is required is an open mind and a willingness to share.I currently hold dan level rank in Judo, Aikido and three styles of Jujutsu.

Modern Combat Masters Host Professor Darrell Sarjeant and his Co-Host, Kancho Dan Vena are proud to present Soke Billy Davis Ju Jutsu, Dei Bi Su Ryu Ju Jutsu.
Soke Billy Davis was born June 1937. At the age of nine, he began his studies of the martial arts after being beat up. He vowed, “I'm gonna do something about it!” Thus, he began training in the Art of Judo under Sensei Joe Carpenter. Judo was the only martial art taught around that time. Judo was taught as a gentle method, a non aggressive art. Approximately four months later, he met a gentleman who his father brought home to visit from the Merchant Marines, Sensei Batensour. Sensei Batensour began teaching Soke Davis the art of Ju Jutsu. After three years of training, at the age of twelve, he was promoted to Brown Belt. In 1953, at the age of sixteen, he was promoted to Black Belt. He entered the US Air Force, and due to his knowledge in Judo and Ju Jutsu, was stationed in Tokyo, Japan as an instructor of hand to hand combat. It was during this time that Soke Davis learned the Art of Taiho Jutsu, a very devastating expression of Ju Jutsu from the Tokyo Military Police. In 1959, Soke began teaching his combination of Judo, Ju Jutsu, and Taiho Jutsu. His first student is today, a living legend, Hanshi Rico Guy. Over the next twelve or so years, Soke trained in a variety of locations with several leading teachers. During this time, Soke stayed independent mastering the information he learned previously.
