Former Syracuse and NFL star Donovin Darius spoke with Joe Lisi about his outstanding career in college and the NFL. Donovin was a standout for the Orangeman from 1994-1997 and became two-time All Big East selection in 1995 and 1996. In 1997, Darius became the All-Big East Defensive Player of the Year which led to him being drafted in the 1st round of the 1998 NFL Draft (25th overall).
Darius was a standout at the safety position for Syracuse who played the game with intensity and great work ethic. He was a fantastic in run support and was able to make plays sidleine to sidleine against opposing offenses. Donovin finished his career in Syracuse with 379 total tackles.
Donovin was drafted by te Jacksonville Jaguars in 1998 and spent nine years with the team from 1998-2006. During that time he recorded 624 total tackles, 14 interceptions and 2 sacks and became the leader of the secondary. He was a dominant hitter at the safety position and was one of the best safeties in the NFL during his playing days.
After his playing days were over in 2007, Darius began working on life after football and has spent his time giving back to younger athletes of all ages through his charity called: The Donovin Darius Foundation.

Donovin is an inspiration to former NFL players as well through the NFL LEgends program which helps former players transition to life after football. Donovin is part of a team that was created by the NFL to help former players with any transition after their playing days are over.

Acting was how he was introduced to the Entertainment industry however Darius’ first love and foremost talent is MUSIC. As a child, his musically deep rooted family nurtured his multi faceted talents long before he ever set foot on an acting set. He is an Incredible singer, songwriter, producer and plays several different instruments very fluently.
Darius’ first amongst many inspirations is his father, Grammy nominated Jazz/Gospel singer Howard McCrary. Darius has no doubt inherited and tapped into his fathers talent as he brings it into the current culture of music within the timeless songs he creates. He has also been groomed by the likes of Legends Rick James and George Clinton.
His sound is unique, strong and captivating: one that transcends thru to many different genres and creates a diversified fan base. He embodies rock & roll, soul mixed with an adult contemporary allure. It is only enhanced by his original lyrics that makes hearts race with anticipation for more especially when performing live. He showcased this talent most recently September 2015: he co-produced and starred in the 2 day sold out Las Vegas theatre show “In Laws From Hell”. Darius has also been a part of 2 major tours which have both been sold out throughout thru 41 States.

Darius McCrary is best known for his role as Eddie Winslow on the long-running television series "Family Matters." He began his career in Hollywood at the age of ten. McCrary, who is also a songwriter and music producer, is the son of Grammy-nominated gospel/jazz musician Howard McCrary and older brother of actor Donovan McCrary.
McCrary has also starred as a series regular on NBC's "Committed" as Bowie James and later as Jamal in UPN's "Eve." He also appeared on the small screen in the NBC/Paramount miniseries "Kingpin," on HBO's multi-award-winning "Don King: Only in America," starring Ving Rhames, and in the popular Neal Israel-directed "Kidz in the Woods."
Darius McCrary plays autobot Jazz, First Lieutenant to Optimus Prime in 2007's 3rd of July blockbuster "Transformers." McCrary will soon be seen in the musical comedy "Steppin': The Movie," costarring Anthony Anderson, Mo'Nique and James Avery, on which he also serves as co-producer; "A Good Man is Hard to Find" with Lance E. Nichols; and "Next Day Air" with Mos Def, Debbie Allen, Donald Faison, and Mike Epps. All three films are in post-production and slated for 2008 release. Darius just completed his theatre tour of "Rumors" which he played the starring role of Marcus. Coincidentally, he also plays the starring role of Marcus in the recently completed pilot of "The Life and Times of Marcus Felony Brown" for The Wayans Bros. production.
