Today on our program we will discuss: The dark side of nursing, its impact on a nurse's life and well-being. Being a nurse can be demanding and extremely stressful, having both physical and emotional impacts on a nurse. Some of these stresses can be a result of lack of social support, inability to control one’s work schedule or assignments, a chaotic or monotonous job, work-life imbalance, and other factors.
Our guest today is educator and Critical Care Nurse, Reezena Malaska. Reezena trained in Oxford, England at the Oxford School of Nursing, now Oxford Brookes University and received a diploma in nursing after taking the UK boards. Reezena became certified as a Critical Care nurse and then moved to the United States where she spent the last 20 years moving every 3-4 years as a military wife and working in many acute care settings. This Thursday, May 7th, 2015 at 3 p.m. PST on MetalSmith BenchTalk we'll go back into the archives for a Past Favorites epiosde with artist Michael Romanik. Since 1992, Michael has created production, 'limit-production' and one-of-a-kind cloisonne' enamel jewelry.
About: As a student studying enameling in art school, I became intrigued with the technique of cloisonne', creating linear designs and images with flat wire embedded between layers of colored granular glass. This was my first introduction to enameling. In my pursuit to learn more about this medium and wanting to perfect my skills with it, I spent many years researching and experimenting with this art form.
Some early inspiration for my work was derived from my interest in the objects and images of ancient cultures: the grandeur of ancient Egypt, the colorful painted relief carvings on Mayan architecture, the symbols of the Celts. Recent inspiration comes from nature: the vibrant plumage of a songbird, the delicate markings of a butterfly wing, the gentle curve of a small branch. A new interest is the repetitive geometric patterns and motifs of Asian and Indian textiles.
I was born in 1966 and raised in the Cleveland OH area. My home and studio are in East Cleveland. I am a 1989 graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art with a BFA Degree in Drawing and minors in both Printmaking and Glass. I am a recipient of a 2011 Creative Workforce Fellowship, generously funded by Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, The Community Partnership for Arts and Culture, and the residents of Cuyahoga County OH

Once upon a time, there was a story, and the story had to be told, and there was no way to tell the story. But someone said, SHOUT IT OUT, and many will hear you! Hear what? asked the person who was wanting to spread a word or two - Spread what you want to say to people. Oh, was the reply. Then came the Cool Critics, you know the crew that is not afraid for any type of discussion, are you? 347-205-9366. Enough said!

After spending time in a correctional facility, youth are often released without family, system, or community support. For a myriad of reasons, these youth face high rates of unemployment and education failure, have limited viable housing options, and are unable to access the assistance they require. Many now realize that in order to achieve long-term success, that reentry planning must occur way before a youth returns to his or her community. In order to address this disconnect and increase chances of success, the Juvenile Court in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Youth Services, Division of Parole, and community-based services, created a reentry court. Using evidence-based practices and with a goal to reduce recidivism and re-incarceration of youth, the project begins to work with youth several months before release and the support continues post-release. Guests on this episode will discuss the development and implementation of the collaborative effort, provide an overview of the mechanics of the reentry court itself, and share lessons learned.

If you wish to know just how powerful Satan is look no further than this article written for Cop Block titled “CUYAHOGA FALLS POLICE: CIVIL FORFEITURE OF ALMOST 800K” These things have been happening for years and no one has said or tried to do anything about it which makes those who conduct this type of activity feel as though they are justified and those around them so afraid of stepping up that they just act like a beaten slave and go along to get along. I, personally, am so tired of hearing crap like this going on but you can only educate people about Satan so often before you begin to say it’s time to shake the dust from my feet and move on. Why they choose him, only God knows but why we sit around and don’t vote or do all that we can about it, only we know. Be it made clear here America, you can sit on your hands and your spine if you choose to but in the end, when all that is done in the dark is brought to light, you will have to pay for your inaction. Hope you are ready for it.
