President Obama on the night before his election, November 3, 2008 gave his famous “one voice” speech. In it the president to be said these words, “One voice can change a room, and if one voice can change a room, then it can change a city, and if it can change a city, it can change a state, and if it change a state, it can change a nation, and if it can change a nation, it can change the world. Your voice can change the world.”
Anastasia and Jack explore the significance of these words spoken almost eight years ago. And their significance if applied to our current presidential campaign race.
Violence is our biggest issue as cowards are quick to pick up the gun. The pigs continously murder us while those living around us sit in windows watching rallies taking place yet they do nothing. The economy is so poor in the ghettos drug sales seems to be the major career choice while our representatives only show up to calls of peace and resistance for checks.
Urbn Vudu...The name in itself sparks so many ideas in the minds of folks... Throuh his poetry he sets the record straight. UrbanVoodoo is the combination of two distinct ideas, Urban in terms of the inner city which bred my style and Magic which the sound is designed to create City Magic. He is affectionately called Urb by his friends, he is original from New Orleans, Louisiana home of the Spicy Creole Culture that has permeated the urban sound for decades.
Urbn is merely a branch off that same tree. He writes concrete. There is no imaginary man holding the microphone here. He was raised in two distinct localities where the cultural norms are as different as Denmark and Hamburg are to each other, even though the two countries are both European. I was raised in California and Louisiana. He grew up in a very stable tribal environment in his 9th ward locality of NO and eventually he was raised by the hardened streets of INGLEWOOD, CA. where childhood is often eclipsed by reality and dreams are like the yearning for true freedom. Urban Voodoo is a product of those dreams. UrbanVoodoo was recently nominated for best spoken word album of the year in the Spoken Word Billboard Awards held in Michigan a couple months ago and he was also featured in Spoken Vizions Magazine 2012 Fall Edition (http://www.spokenvizions.com/).
What are the culture wars and how can we win them? Join us as noted art scholar and critic James Cooper talks about art and culture today.
James Cooper is an art scholar and noted critic. He is the Founding Director of the Newington-Cropsey Cultural Studies Center. He is the Editor of American Arts Quarterly. He is the author of several books, including The Hudson River School and the Moral Landscape. Mr. Cooper served on the President’s Committee for National Standards for Arts Education K-12. He has been a vocal critic of government funding to the arts. He was the first to challenge the obscenity, lack of quality of grants awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts. Subsequently he was appointed to serve as a juror on several juries for the National Endowment for the Arts, and met with many congressmen. Cooper believes that EXCELLENCE and BEAUTY are the criteria for public art and education, not political correctness or propaganda. He thinks that the American people have not been alerted to the CULTURE WAR that is deconstructing the core values of America. His goal is cultural renewal.
This show is a continuation of our last show, but goes further into details on the current state of economic, political, geopolitical, & cultural affairs globally. We will also connect this to prophecy and show you the workings of God in all of these things that are now unfolding in America and around the world.
