In Landslide, Program 54, Bonfire and her guest Rosalind Peterson discuss the fate of the remaining Desert Tortoises who are scheduled for euthanasia at the end of 2014. Asks Bonfire, "Why can't their survival be underwritten by a little loose change from the U.S. military budget.... I mean... for instance. There are apparently only 1400 or so of them remaining, anyway. Are these the same venerable beings who were in harm's way with the depleted uranium bomb testing of ten or so years ago at the Nevada Test Site? I"m jus' askin'."

Visiting the Picasso museum in Barcelona, Spain, years ago led me to see an interesting and amazing thing. People—such as Picasso—who become masters of their areas of life, seek simplicity. Truth is simple. Dianne Morris Jones has created a very simple way of dealing with stress, an approach than can easily be taught to a young child. One major human emotion, shame, creates an overwhelming amount of stress in human lives. As a student of Brene’ Brown, and a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator and Consultant, Dianne has a lot to say about how to reduce the stress of shame. Let’s get free of unneeded shame together! Click to visit Diane Morris Jones website and read more about her books!

Much of the work of advancing women in the legal workplace falls on the shoulders of women. Most firms have women’s initiatives run by and for women, and these initiatives have great value. But they are not changing the norms, attitudes and biases that govern law firm advancement, leadership and rewards. Little significant change is possible at the top of law firms, where it really counts, unless those with power – men – take the lead and are accountable for it.

Hi, I’m Manuela “Mannie” Tantawy and I’m an Association of Property Scene Designers (APSD) certified Property Scene Designer and the President of The Staging Fashionista in the Washington, DC Metro area. I am a certified APSD Master Trainer and a member of the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA). I graduated from the School of Interior Decorating at Ashworth College in 2003. I have always had a passion for rearranging, decluttering and decorating my own home and the homes of my family and friends. My friends refer to me as “Martha Stewart, Jr.” As Martha says – that is a good thing! Although this has been my passion since I was 9 years old, I did not pursue my dream until my later years. Home staging and decorating brings out my creative side. Over twenty years in public service and working as a Senior Executive has provided me with customer service and management skills that have proven beneficial for my business. I love staging homes for my clients to make them look their best prior to putting them on the market. I want buyers to fall in love with the homes I stage by creating a lifestyle and an emotional connection to the home. My average days on market of my staged homes is 18 days.
Vancouver, BC – Planning for the long-term is something nearly every business struggles with. Most businesses can only plan a month to two months ahead, but it’s about having strategies that will take you years into the future. You need to think three to five years down the road. If the purpose of your business is to turn a profit, what are you doing to ensure that that happens?
Diane Baker is the founder of RiskAssist Consulting, which specializes in providing comprehensive risk management solutions to give business owners the peace of mind they expect. No matter what kind of business you run, RiskAssist Consulting can identify your operational vulnerabilities and strengths while working on your behalf to deliver an insurance program that minimizes your exposures for potential loss.
“Everyone is thinking short-term. That’s where a risk manager comes in, to encourage long-term strategic thinking,” says Baker. “It takes somebody with an objective point of view to encourage that conversation, someone who understands the business process.”
Risk management can ensure your business meets its long-term goals by adding certainty to your operations. Whether you’re a building owner, manufacturer or real estate company, the same questions apply to every business.
“It’s a matter of paying attention. It’s a matter of asking for help,” says Baker. “Yes, you’ve done very well; you’ve built a successful business but where do you go from here? What do you as a business owner hope to achieve?"
“What’s missing today is the enthusiasm,” says Baker. “Business owners need to feel the process has already begun. Sometimes the simple act of asking the right questions and strategizing is enough to ignite the ‘fire” and excitement within. That energy will get you moving in the right direction."
The impact of the PDP experience is best explained by our program alumni.
Artists have credited the program with helping them build a more stable financial foundation, develop better time-management skills and transition to a full-time practice.
We can’t promise these same results for all our participants, but we can promise that whatever your definition of success, we will do our best to help you get there.

When things go wrong, it doesn’t mean it needs to continue that way. When having a bad day it’s easy to get caught up in judging the day and ourselves; but don’t focus on everything that is going bad or not working. It’s ok to acknowledge the problem, but focus on what is working Try doing things that will take your mind off of how bad you are feeling about the way your day is going. Remember, positivity attracts positivity..
1. If it is possible at the start of the “troubles”, talk to someone about it. Call up a friend or family member for advice, or sympathy.
2. Listen to a favorite song and sing along. studies have shown that listening to music you like can alter your mood and even alleviate depression. In your iPod, make a “Feel Better” playlist; try to choose positive, uplifting songs that you can sing along to.
3. Watch a funny YouTube video.
4. Practice deep breathing. Deep breathing has a naturally therapeutic, stress-reducing quality that can help you stop the rush of stress hormones that a bad day can bring about. Take a few moments to close your eyes. Practice inhaling deeply through your nose for a two- second count, pausing for two seconds, and then exhaling for another two seconds. Thiswill help stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system that quiets down your stress response.
5. Count Your Blessings: Gratitude has some wonderful benefits for stress management. It's hard to focus on how bad things are when you're focusing on how good things are.
6. Exercise causes a burst of endorphins and the ability to blow off steam can take the negative energy out of your day.
7. Chocolate: one small piece of very good chocolate, savored provides a quiet break from stress.
