This episode of Pneumatikos will explore the destructive practice of covetousness in the lives of believing ones. In many ways this particular sin has defined and does define the lives of so many persons. This sin chokes the spiritual life.
On this episode of Remnant X Radio we will be airing a teaching by John Piper entitled, "Battling The Unbelief of Covetousness." Please check our our website @RemnantXRadio.com and friend request us on Facebook @RemnantXRadio ThePride.
Covetousness. It's not that bad, is it? Everyone compares themselves to others once in a while, right? The media (TV, radio, print, etc) makes a living of trying to convince you that you don't have enough (or that what you have isn't good enough). What does the Bible say about this? As Christmas approaches, this is a topic that hits pretty close to home. Your kids come home from school talking about the classmate that has an iPhone AND an iPad mini (when your child doesn't have a phone at all). What's the best way to respond to that? Comparing yourself, your family, your kids, your car, your house...(fill in the blank) to anyone or anything can be a slippery slope (Deut 5:21; 2 Cor 10:12). Listen LIVE this week as Dr Pauline and Catherine see what God's Word has to say about coveteousness and comparing yourself to others. As always, we welcome your comments and questions through Facebook (Dunamas Center Ministries), Twitter (@YourDunamasLife), or by calling in during the show at 646-564-9618.

Join Dr. Teresa Graham and The Girls Around The Table @ 7:00PM (CST) & 8:00PM (EST)., as they discuss "Why Am I Jealous Against My Sister In The Lord." Being Jealous shows us that we are not satisfied with whom God created us to be. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 13:5, "To be content with what we have, listen to scripture speak, " Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." This scripture shows us that if we become more like Jesus that spirit of jealousy will not take root in our heart. To dial into the show: 516-531-9244 or click the link below. So-called "progressives", was represented by a caller, who think themselves above the humble followers of Christ--who be deluded they judge, are to the contrary, exactly the same in character as those described by Paul in his letter to the Romans and Timothy:
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
(2 Timothy 3:7 - 9)
Demonstrating by this caller that human nature is the same, God is the same, the Gosple is the same, and the Devil is the same.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
(New Testament | Romans 1:28 - 32)

1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;.....
Bible dictionary - a strong desire after the possession of worldly things , lusting for that thing/person
The apostle John in 1 John 2:15-17..warns against loving the world and the things in the world. It is clear from this passage that love for the things in the world is negative and is something we should avoid. If we reflect further on this verse, we will see that this warning also covers the area of greed and covetousness. Greed and covetousness is also highlighted in verse 16. “The lust of the flesh” here refers to strong desires that proceed from the flesh; it is our personal, fleshly desires. A major problem of the lust of the flesh is man’s wrongful desires or covetousness for all kinds of things. Likewise, “the lust of the eyes” refers to the things the eyes see and inappropriately long for. These are all connected. These are things not good for us that's why the word of God warns us to stay away. We ought not to harbour desires for these things.
