Police Brutality vs Black On Black Crimes; can we address 1 without the other

    in Lifestyle

Police brutality is a very hot topic in the country, as it should be. Because of video, unknown behavior has come to the light. But the black community doesnt react the same when the brutality or murder comes from a person in their community. No protest, no social media postings, no demands for that person to be imprisoned. Can the balck community only attack 1 part of this issue? Can we demand respect from others but not respect each other?

Third Eye Cinema 4/19/15 with Chris Impelliteri

    in Entertainment

Next time on Third Eye Cinema: one of the premier names in old school speed metal shred guitar!

Working alongside Rainbow, MSG and Alcatrazz frontman Graham Bonnett, he blazed his way onto the 80's metal scene with the somewhat uncharacteristic Stand In Line, making enough of a name for himself to release his own REH instructional video Speed Soloing before seemingly vanishing from the scene thereafter.

After spending a full two decades producing quality, effectively Christian metal albums solely available as imports from the RCA Victor Japan label with original vocalist Rob Rock (Angelica, M.A.R.S. Project Driver) and Chastain/Fifth Angel drummer Ken Mary, he’s returned to domestic shores courtesy of Frontiers records.

With a blazing new album evoking the sound and style of classic 80's L.A. style metal and some blazing, sweep picked arpeggiation and fiery 32nd note runs still marked by a strong grounding in melodic structure and classic song construction, Impelliteri appears to be poised for their first U.S. breakthrough in decades (and their first domestic release with longtime vocalist Rock in the drivers' seat)!

Join us as we speak to one of the great shredders, the legendary Chris Impelliteri, only here on Third Eye Cinema!

Paranormal Frequencies: Mary Marshall - The Paranormal MD

    in Paranormal

Joining us on the show this week is special guest Mary Marshall The Paranormal MD.  Mary has helped develop one of the first paranormal studies programs in the country.  She teaches Paranormal Studies at Harper College, College of DuPage, College of Lake County, and the Theological Society in Illinois.  She is a writer who is currently working on two books and also hosts her own radio show entitled, "The Paranormal MD".

Also in honor of our guest we will have our Top 10 list of reportedly haunted places in Illinois.

On April 12th, the Asylum Haunted Attraction burned to the ground.  This was the sight of our first shadow capture and a great place to investigate.  The owners have always been great to us and we would like to return the favor.  Visit the link below to see how you can help Save The Asylum!

  • Lindsey Benage on Medicaid Expansion & Fred Christian on Poverty Issues

    in Politics Progressive

In the last election cycle (2014), we saw great movement on a lot of issues...in both good and bad directions. It was bad that 21 states had not moved forward on expanding Medicaid when we last talked with Lindsey Benage of Kansas.

The good news in that month that was rapidly moving toward what turned out to be a bad midterm election in terms of progress was that Lindsey & her networks had organized Medicaid expansion vigils in several states, including her home state of Kansas. The aims were to bring awareness to the numbers of people that could die without the benefits of Medicaid coverage and move legislators and government executives to take action on these matters of life and death.

A lot has happened in the last six months on the issue of Medicaid expansion. Barbara Dee & Bram Sarkowski will check in with our friend Lindsey Benage for the first time since October, 2014. We look forward to finding out what has been done and what we can do next!

Our second guest is a long time listener & supporter who does his part to combat the war being waged on the poor in this country in matters of medical care and other issues. He personally sees the urgent need for medical insurance and is irate with Governor Rick Scott for his treatment of those that would qualify for Medicaid if they expanded in Florida. There are other issues that those living on or below the poverty level deal with that we'll get into with Fred & Lindsey, as well.

There will be plenty to talk about in this episode. As always, we encourage you to call in with your comments or questions using the number (646) 478-3349!!

We look forward to hearing from you and from Lindsey and Fred!!!

    Let's get the conversation going...

Julian Walker and Tyra B MRTR

    in Pop Culture

    Celebrating Over 150 Episodes!

Hosts: Jamel, Derrick Dwayne and Flash Gotti

#MyRealTalkRadio interviews Blackbird Star: Julian Walker and Singer/Songwriter: Tyra B.

Rookie actor Julian Walker is the breakout star in the poignant new film, "Blackbird." The coming-of-age drama, based on the 1986 novel by Larry Duplechan, tells the story of Randy Rousseau, a saintly choirboy in small-town America struggling to reconcile his sexuality and conflicting religious beliefs.

Born and raised in Petersburg, VA, Tyra knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. She started singing and dancing at talent shows in elementary school, and spent much of her free time practicing her craft. Her hard work paid off when, in 2004, at yet another one of these talent shows, a DJ from nearby Richmond was in the audience and decided to put her single, "Country Boy," on his radio show. Before too long she was a local celebrity, helped also by the success of her second single, "Still in Love," which led to an opening spot on Destiny's Child summer 2005 tour. Soon, she signed to Warner Bros., with plans made for her debut album, Introducing Tyra (which included the song "Get No Ooh Wee"), to be released. It wasn't until 2008, however, after yet another successful single, "Giving Me a Rush," hit the airwaves and television, that the singer, who was now calling herself Tyra B, issued her true debut, Past Due.
