Although breast augmentation and enhancement surgery has been around for decades, many patients and doctors are still confused about the best placement options for implants, which type of implant to use, and where to actually place the incision is discussed in a multitude of chat rooms around the web. In this episode, Aesthetic Insider talks with Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Marcel Daniels, MD of ImageMD in Long Beach, CA. Trained by Dr. Bruce Connell, one of the most revered plastic surgeons in the world, Dr. Daniels prides himself on his dedication to providing the best surgical options and techniques to patients, and his delicate and precise approach to surgery. Dr. Daniels has one of the largest breast surgery practices in the Southern California area. As Dr. Daniels explains, "It's not the implant that makes this procedure so great, it's the experience of the surgeon. Understanding anatomy, healing trends, lifestyle of the patient and risks involved are all part of what can make this procedure ideal for most women that choose it." Dr. Daniels also notes that in addition to discussing with the patient the important scientific and surgical options available, he feels that part of a successful procedure and a satisfied patient is having the right kind of discussion prior to surgery about their individual aesthetic expectations! As we like to say here at Aesthetic Insider, an informed patient is a happy patient. For more information visit www.imagemd.com.

Welcome to the Heroes of Katrina: 10 Years After
Pets and Storms
The demographics and statistics are amazing. There are 2.5 animals (cats/dogs…etc. for every American home).
When a population of almost a million evacuates an area and is forced to leave their pets behind…the result is 2.5 million animals…homeless…ownerless…destitute. This was the situation during and after Hurricane Katrina. Indeed the animal issue was largely overlooked by all the rescuing agencies Federal and otherwise.
After Katrina, the animal population was largely overlooked within the rescue and aid infrastructure. All of the guests on Tuesday's show were on the ground and dedicated to the rescue of the animals left behind.
With hurricane season starting June 1st, this show is timely and hopefully can be used as a resource for the animal lovers of the Gulf Coast.
Please join us this very special evening as we welcome our returning guest, Award Winning Author Jenny Pavlovic. We will discuss an extremely important topic....preparing our beloved pets for a hurricane. Jenny Pavlovic, animal rescuer and author of the award winning book, “The 8 States of Hurricane Kate,” will share very valuable advice and insight regarding the necessary precautionary measures needed to safeguard our furry friends and all animal creatures BEFORE a hurricane strikes. Hurricane season is fast approaching - June 1 through November 30, 2015. It's not too early to listen and learn what to do in advance. Please don't wait until it's too late. Feel free to call in and share, comment, question, discuss with Jenny.
The ever increasing pace of aesthetic medical innovation recently saw another exciting new product added to the clinical 'toolkit'. Reducing a double-chin, or fat under the jawline, without surgery or liposuction has been difficult until now. Last week the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) approved a new injection therapy called Kybella (Kythera Biopharmaceuticals, Inc.) which was approved for the reduction of moderate to severe fat deposits under the chin. The active ingredient in Kybella, deoxycholic acid, dissolves fat, allowing dermatologists and aesthetic surgeons to resculpt the chin area without surgery. Dr. Heidi Waldorf, an internationally respected expert in the field of noninvasive skin rejuvenation and dermatology, including the use of soft tissue augmentation, botulinum toxins, topical cosmeceuticals, lasers, and other devices, was a lead clinical investigator on Kybella leading to its approval. Dr. Waldorf is also Director of Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology at The Mount Sinai Hospital and Associate Clinical Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine of Mount Sinai University and sees patients in Nanuet, New York, at Waldorf Dermatology & Laser Associates, and at Mount Sinai Hospital. Being involved as a lead clinical investigator with new products that may enable better patient results, and possibly even change and influence how certain procedures are performed, is an exciting part of any doctor's career. Listen to the Aesthetic Insider radio for a special glimpse into how Dr. Waldorf combines running a successful practice with important clinical investigation.
