#101 - Goodbye Internet Freedom, GOP Caves On Amnesty...AGAIN, AR-15 Bullets Ban

    in Politics Conservative

Obama gave Soros what he paid for on Thursday of this week. He wants to shut down the criticism of him and others on the internet and with “Net Neutrality” it will be easy to do. The FCC voted in draconian measures to control and regulate the internet and if immigration, energy, gun control, education and healthcare are any indication we are in for a terrible shock if the regulations actually kick in anytime soon. It would be almost bearable if you would think there was a chance for the GOP to do anything about it but they are caving in AGAIN on immigration and I don’t see them doing anything about the proposed ammo ban angle on gun control. Yep it’s a great big excrement sandwich and we’re ALL gonna have to take a bite.

Oscar Recap: How Patty Arquette won her last Oscar. Plus: Aquaman is a bum.

    in Entertainment

It's Oscar Night!! I know many of you are upset that Kai and myself won no awards, nor were we nominated...but there were a lot of other people who won and much like Kanye West we have opinion we believe that are greater than anyone else's.

Politics are BIG deal when it comes to Oscars and one thing that seems to constant is that breaking decorum in any fashion almost always has backlash from Hollywood and the Academy itself. Tonight Patricia Arquette made a brilliant speach about wage equality and women's rights and it will be intersting to see how this impacts her career.

also we have more BATMAN v SUPERMAN news to discuss as Zach Synder tweeted an image of Jason Mamoa in full Aquaman costume, sparking a shit load of memes and harsh criticism, per usual.

Sixers will be a powerhouse someday, but when?

    in Basketball

It is easy to declare the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Milwaukee Bucks the winners of trade deadline day, because both will be in the playoffs and both made exceptional moves.

But the team I have declared the bigest winner of all is the Philadelphia 76ers, because they were able to get their hands on the Top 5 protected pick that the Los Angels Lakers owed to the Phoenix Suns. It is never easy trading away a player as good as Michael Carter-Williams, who is the reigning Rookie of the Year. But having a chance to build a team that can be a powerhouse for a full decade is an opportunity not to be dismissed, and general manager Sam Hinkie has put his team in that position.

Not everyone agrees with me, and the patience of fans in Philadelphia is being tested.

Also, Hinkie is getting a lot of criticism for tanking the season, but if the rules give a team an incentive to tank, what is wrong with operating within the rules?

I debated the Sixers situation, the wisdom of it, and the chances of it succeeding, with Jody MacDonald and Josh Innes on WIP Radio in Philly. Enjoy.

The King Me Show: The Life of Malcolm X

    in Radio

Why was this brutha murdered? What did he witness when he went to Eygpt and Mecca? Did this brutha find out the truth behind his leader, if so how did it effect him?

In the evening of February 21, 1965, at the Audubon Ballroom in Manhattan, where Malcolm X was about to deliver a speech, three gunmen rushed the stage and shot him 15 times at point blank range. Malcolm X was pronounced dead on arrival at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital shortly thereafter. He was 39 years old. The three men convicted of the assassination of Malcolm X were all members of the Nation of Islam: Talmadge Hayer, Norman 3X Butler and Thomas 15X Johnson.

In the immediate aftermath of Malcolm X's death, commentators largely ignored his recent spiritual and political transformation and criticized him as a violent rabble-rouser. However, Malcolm X's legacy as a civil rights hero was cemented by the posthumous publication in 1965 of The Autobiography of Malcolm X: As Told to Alex Haley. At once a harrowing chronicle of American racism, an unsparing self-criticism and an inspiring spiritual journey, the book, transcribed by the acclaimed author of Roots, instantly recast Malcolm X as one of the great political and spiritual leaders of modern times. Named byTIME magazine one of 10 "required reading" non-fiction books of all-time,The Autobiography of Malcolm X has truly enshrined Malcolm X as a hero to subsequent generations of radicals and activists.

Perhaps Malcolm X's greatest contribution to society was underscoring the value of a truly free populace by demonstrating the great lengths to which human beings will go to secure their freedom. "Power in defense of freedom is greater than power in behalf of tyranny and oppression," he stated. "Because power, real power, comes from our conviction which produces action, uncompromising action."

Mardi Gras: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

    in Politics Progressive

On the November 19, 2015 episode of Liberal Dan Radio:

Mardi Gras took place this past week in New Orleans and I will review some of my personal experiences as well as some of the other events that took place. Some have even sggested that this was one of the rudest Mardi Gras in recent history. Is it tourists? Locals? Students?

But before that I will discuss several other issues that have been going on in the news recently.

Marie Harf made a ruckus because of comments she made about terrorism and poverty. While I do not necessarilly agree with her assessment completely I also question the legitimacy of the arguments made by those who are attacking her for making what they call "stupid" arguments. Some point to the lack of criticism of President Bush when he pretty much said the same thing previously. However, there is another reason why we shouldn't take such folks seriously.

Finally, the City of New Orleans passed a smoking ordinance that I feel goes way to far in some areas and completely misses the boat in other areas. I will go over why the ban should pretty much be flipped from what it currently is using my mardi gras experiences as an example.
