What Women Can Learn From Groundhog Day!

    in Business

Join us today on Women Leading the Way Radio as we interview Cathy Francis, President of Karacal Communications.

Groundhog Day has been in existence in the US since the early 1800’s. February 2nd also marked an important date for farmers who celebrated Candlemas Day, which marked the midpoint of winter, halfway between the shortest day and the spring equinox. In olden times during the middle of winter farmers used it to determine whether they would have enough crops to feed their stock before winter was over.

It is ironic that today we’re talking on Groundhog day, regardless of whether he saw his shadow or not.  So maybe we should be asking the question ourselves: are we going back into hibernation or is spring around the corner.  We can play this analogy out as it relates to how we react in our own careers these days.

Cathy Francis’ career has been guided by her uncompromising quest to provide her employers and clients with open minded leadership and flexibility while providing simple effective solutions to human resources and management issues.  She credits her success to her ability to think strategically and to translate strategic plans into tactical actions that lead to business success.

    in Business

Join us today on Women Leading the Way Radio, as we interview C.J. Westrick, President of HR Jungle.

When employment laws change, how do small business owners keep up?  Industry groups sometimes get the information out to members, but what about the businesses out there on their own?  By their nature small businesses usually don’t have a human resources department to access. That is where C.J. Westrick steps in. C.J. provides peace of mind to business owners by ensuring they are compliant with employment laws, providing guidance and ideas to management, and helping them communicate more effectively with their employees from situational assistance to full outsourcing of the company’s human resources. With the growth of very small businesses an HR expert is your best way to handle change.

  • Collaboration + Competition + Compassion: What really works in business?

    in Business

Join us today on Women Leading the Way Radio as Shawn Marie Turi, your host of Business IS Personal: What you do and WHY you do it... MATTERS, interviews Madison Canary, Founder and Yogi of Yoga N Motion.

In the work place, Yoga has been shown to decrease stress and increase productivity! Madison teaches both privately and to groups and she is contracted by not only dozens of yoga studios but also by corporations who believe and support company wellness programs… which we certainly need more of. Madison is especially trained in Vinyasa flow, Restorative/Yin yoga as well as children's yoga and her works focus is to encourage students to find their inner source of power through unifying body and breathe to overcome the false limitations of the mind.

After 10 years as a ballerina, Madison came to yoga, as injuries she’d endured in dance and ballet, left her body injured and unable to move. Yoga brought her body and spirit back to life and from the deep appreciation and love for the practice, she trained to become a certified teacher, so she could in turn pass along the gift of yoga, which had transformed her life. Her excitement for the practice is infectious and the number one thing she aspires to pass along to her students is joy. Joy for life, for movement, for their bodies.

Yoga has brought feelings of peace and determination to Madison that affect both her business and her life and in the most positive ways, and as a result, she feels healthier, stronger and more centered now than ever before.

She wishes that for her students as well and sharing yoga with others is an honor and a privilege and it’s truly what she’s been called to do.
