Cuba - Greece - and other oddities in the news!

    in Politics

Hr1 Bill Whittle breaks down who REALLY owns the land now known as Texas.

Woman promised herself if not wed by age 40, she'd marry herself. So she did.

N.O.W. ridicules Freshman Congresswoman Joni Ernst for sharing her personal story of being too poor to own
more than one pair of shoes, I thought they were supposed to defend ALL women, not just liberal ones.

Hr2 Castro demands reparations for Cuba... as if WE did all the damage to their country! Typical liberal, socialist, communist... blaming everyone else and taking responsibility for nothing.

Interviewing Sheriff Joe Arpaio. I don't mind being called the toughest cop in the country. "I'm not a social worker,
I'm a cop." I hope I have his fight when I'm his age (over 80!)

Hr3   Is Greece going to default on the European Union? What happens then?

First openly atheist Prime Minister is sworn in in Greece. He chose not to take a Biblical oath.

Ford employee wants to know why LGBT employees can express themselves in a company publication,
but a Christian employee cannot. Christian employee.

every American should know... but doesn't.

don't have anyone to help her today!

Rep. Steny Hoyer says whether or not a 20 week old unborn child is a human being "is not a real issue."
It matters to that 20 week old baby who may or may not be aborted. Abortion is a real issue.

CRITICAL CONVERSATIONS: State of the Union to States Rights

    in Politics

President Obama delivered his sixth State of the Union Address last night.  Was he truthful when he said "The shadow of crisis has passed, and the State of the Union is strong."

Critical Conversation's host Lisa Ruth and Communities Digital News senior editor and economist Dr. Jim Picht will discuss the State of the Union, President Obama's address and Congresswoman Jodi Ernst's Republican Response.

From the State of the Union to State's Rights, panelists Attorney James Edwards and national writer and Communities journalist Al Maurer, of Colorado, will be talking state's rights - the legal issue, not the social. Colorado is being sued by adjoining states over their legalization of marijuana. Appellate courts are wavering on states rights when it comes to federally mandated rights to abortion.  Can a state say that "gay marriage" is not legal, while an adjoining state says it is?

Join Critical Conversations, a production of Communities Digital News and the Communities Digital News Hour on Blog Talk Radio every thursday, 6:30pm EST and join the live show that will then be available On Demand.

    Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson

    in Women

    Our Guests: Congresswoman Frederica Wilson
Throughout her life, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson has been a voice for the voiceless.   As an elementary school principal, she stood up for the health of her students by opposing the construction of an environmentally dangerous waste facility being built across the street from her school. She won the fight, forcing the Miami-Dade County Commission to close the plant. As a community leader, she stood up for the fair treatment of Haitian women refugees who were incarcerated with no privacy in a local detention center. In 1984, she tirelessly and successfully lobbied Congress for their release. To this day, she remains close friends with all of them. Her lifelong desire for standing up for our most vulnerable populations is rooted in her faith, family, and passion for public service.    Lori Hollander and Jessica from Clarabelle's Cupcake   Once upon a time, a little girl named Clayre was born with a condition that would prohibit her from eating any dairy products. Her mother, who loved to bake, was determined to adapt all of her favorite recipes and make them dairy-free so that Clayre would be able to enjoy desserts with the rest of her family and friends. Most people who tried these dairy-free goodies could not even tell that they did not contain dairy.   Fourteen years later, Clarabelle's Cupcakes was created to share these delicious treats with everyone!
