Why teachers, students and parents have difficulty learning math? The Chinese have their own math, the Islamic have their own math, the Jews have their own math, the Caucasian European Americans have their own math. Where is our Math? The Caucasian Americans taught us their limited Curriculum of learning math. This is called Conventional math, or Conceptual math. We were taught to under stand, for too long we have been under the stand of learning math. Caucasian so-called white people under standing of math is called SPWOL system of learning. Spwol as an acronym means Slave Plantation Way Of Learning. They taught us Times Table as low, they call highest, 12 X 12 and stop. Graspmatyx is Perceptual math, based on 4 principles. Perception, Reasoning, Rhythm and Restoration. Our Times Table starts at zero to nine nine (they call ninety nine) and above mentally. www.caribbeanradioshow@gmail.com

Ricky Brava speaks with Award-winning Norwegian designer/artist Lise Ellingsen

    in Entrepreneur

Listen in on Ricky Brava and Lise Ellingsen's conversation!

Lise is a fun and talented Designer! learn more about her and her trends on The Ricky Brava Show.

How did it begin? a blonde walks into a bar and orders. well, actually she started drawing on napkins. and what she came up with was this:

Blondes Make Better T-shirts is a line where the design of each tee is unique, fun and conceptual — playing off “blonde-ness” (each destined to become collector’s items). But they’re smart — using only 100% sustainable, sweatshop-free and ethically responsible fabrics. One fabric, Promodal, is comprised of 40% beech tree and 60% eucalyptus tree. Another fabric is made of 50% recycled plastic bottles mixed with organic cotton.

Blonde #1 is Lise Ellingsen. She was considering the title “Head Blonde” but found it redundant. Oslo born Ms. Ellingsen took her BFA degree at School of Visual Art in New York. Over the past eight years, she has worked with the top advertising and graphic design firms in New York, Amsterdam and Oslo. Her work for brands like Smirnoff, Coca Cola, Jones Apparel, Jimmy Kimmel and Intel have won over 8 awards, including the prestigious Art Director Club Award and Type Director Club Award. She’s equally adept in print, interactive and TV. For the last few years she studied film at the New School University in New York and her short film has been shown in several festivals and cinemas in Europe and the US. Satisfying as that is, she feels T-shirts are the next horizon.

Harlem Renaissance: The Shaping of Black Sociopolitical Frameworks

    in Women

The Harlem Renaissance was not only a cultural phenomenon, in "...the early portion of the 20th century, [1]" it was also the nexus for a new form of sociopolitical frameworks.  Its distinctions evolved from  southern black migrantion, the intelligentia of the DuBoisan era, and the push-pull formation of  Caribbean immigrants.  It was successful in that it brought the Black experience clearly within the corpus of American cultural history.

On a sociological level, the legacy of the Harlem Renaissance redefined how America and the world, viewed African–Americans.  This new identity led to a greater social consciousness, and African–Americans became players on the world stage, expanding intellectual and social contacts internationally.

Through the Harlem Renaissance encouraged the new appreciation of folk roots and culture. For instance, folk materials and spirituals provided a rich source for the artistic and intellectual imagination, which freed Blacks from the establishment of past condition. Through sharing in these cultural experiences, a consciousness sprung forth in the form of a united racial identity.  Join us as we talk about the layers shaped the black socipolitical frameworks.

Radical Islam Here - An Interview W/ Ilya Feoktistov - The Boston Bombing

    in Religion

Join us for a very important interview with Ilya Feoktistov, is the Director of Research at Americans for Peace and Tolerance.

The Obama Administration is conducting a national conference on combating terror, and has chosen Boston as one of three model cities where authorities have a good working relationship with the Muslim community. In fact, Boston may be the most important US city where radical Muslim leaders are building an extremist base of followers.

The Obama Administration is now planning to hold a conference based on its program to “Counter Violent Extremism” in February. It has identified Boston as one of three cities where Administration policies are preventing radicalization of the Muslim community. Boston is said to be a model for others cites to emulate, because, it “has taken the lead in building pilot frameworks integrating … religious leaders, with law enforcement agencies to address violent extremism.”

Far from being a positive anti-radicalizing model, Boston is actually a model for how Islamic radicalism is created, developed and spread. As the Boston Marathon bombings showed, the Obama Administration’s willingness to be deceived by false moderates can have drastic consequences.

What Am I? Our Return Home from a Detour of Fear with A Course in Miracles

    in Self Help

What am I? Perhaps I am not clear on what I think I am. Yet, we are always giving answer to this question from the second we are born, and before. What we see and experience in this world is showing us what we think we are.

Do I see and experience pain and illness that keeps me physically and socially limited?  Do I experience lack; feeling like I barely survive paycheck to paycheck? Do I experience stress, competition, conflict and attack with brief stays of success, excitement and safety? What am I believing I am, that such a self could suffer and experience so much fear and inconsistency?

It is no coincidence that “What Am I?” is the last theme in the Lessons of A Course in Miracles. It signals the end of our learning journey out of fear. In choosing to believe we are one Self with one Creator and practicing forgiveness our false perceptions are healed showing us a gentle world that offers us mercy and peace.

To know what I am in truth, I have to let go of all that I think I am. All beliefs must be let go as we are moved from having a conceptual self identity to being that which we are, in truth.

“Our use of words is almost over now…The truth of what we are is not for words to speak or to describe.” Pg. 479

Harlem Renaissance Through the Caribbean Lens

    in Women

The first waive of Caribbean immigrants took place during the Portugese and Spanish Caribbean's planotractic design that supported the growth of the British and Dutch colony's slave system.  While Caribbean slavery started 150 years prior to the British colonies', it was the Caribbean that was the "seasoning" process for middle-America's human trafficking.  While the slavocratic sucess can be observed through the development of Amercian construction, there were components of resistance that shifted the sociopolitcal frameworks of the Caribbean design.

The second waive took place when Haiti (1804) and Jamaica (1834), provided a new waive of Caribbeans immigrants.   According to Caribbean lineage socio-anthropologist, WEB DuBois, in his book, The Souls of Black Folk (1903), he indicated that the "free northern Negro" should consider the views of the "West Indian mulattos".  Integrating into black American construct, Caribbean Americans took their place into American black history. During the early 20th century, with the push-pull immigrant principal that brought "West Indians" to New York, the essence of the Harlem Renaissance was within the Caribbean immigrant.  Join us as we talk about the Caribbean Lens within the Harlem Renaissance.
