"This is a historic, significant day for law-abiding gun owners," said Rep. Brandon Phelps, a southern Illinois Democrat who, in 10 years in the House, has continued work on concealed carry begun by his uncle, ex-Rep. David Phelps, who began serving in the mid-1980s. "They finally get to exercise their Second Amendment rights."
Portion control is an important concept when you're trying to lose weight and keep it off. But you don't need to memorize a food list or carry around measuring cups to get a better handle on serving sizes. Instead, use common visual cues to remind yourself of appropriate serving sizes. How? Many foods match up to everyday objects.
For example, a medium pepper is about the size of a baseball and equals one vegetable serving. While not all foods perfectly match visual cues, this method can help you better judge serving sizes and practice portion control, which may help with weight loss.
If you think the servings seem small, don't panic. Remember that you can eat multiple servings every day from each food group.
Tune in and join me as I welcome this week's guest.
Author Seraphina Nova joins me on the Indie Books Show this week to tell us about her book: Another Stone to Carry.
In the small Midwestern town of Bear River, soft-spoken, shy, Kassandra Hayes lives a very sheltered life governed by the church and her goal to become a missionary. Things drastically change when she is sexually assaulted and her life begins spinning out of control. To numb the pain she runs away and finds herself homeless in Chicago. For years, she embraces a life of exotic dancing, drugs, and sexual bartering until an unexpected encounter with an old friend lands her back home where she is brought back to the fold. Her congregation embraces their prodigal daughter, and she acts and dresses the part, but her story is just beginning. Torn between desire and conventional morality, she goes on another journey of self-discovery and finds love in the most unexpected place, shocking the town and herself.
Tune in live Friday at 11AM EST and call in or chat to join the discussion or listen to the archive.

We hear often the importance of letting and we understand the concept on an intellectual level, but do we dare to understand it on an energetic level? When pondering this concept of letting go, I often envision a closed fist (which ironically I also envision when pondering the concept of greed). When our heart (Or for visual purposes)our fist is closed, we are not only hoarding our emotions or circumstances we are not opening our heart to receive more which, sends a signal to the universe that this is all my Hands or heart can carry. You've heard the saying "closed mouths don't get fed," the same applies. Tune in and reconnect on a heart felt level, the concept of letting go!
Stay tuned for our new time. Previous shows are always available on blogtalkradio.com/ascended-radio or via ITunes podcasts, so no matter what time we air, you can always catch the show!
When you have done ALL to stand the Apostle Paul said ... STAND. Sometimes life can really throw a few curve balls and some fast balls as well. But in order to be able to hit a homerun and make it to home plate you have to hit that ball (trouble) hard with the word of God make sure to place hit at the area in focus the run with all fire and vigor through the bases (the Bible) until you make home.
You may get stuck on base, strike out or even get put out. But you don't give up you step up to the plate and you swing hit again until you have overcome that obstacle or you loose the game.
.Life is not about giving up... it's about winning and you can only win in God. When others see you as a loss God sees you as a win win. Whatever is broken if you break your bat, pick up a new one start over in God and push it to the limit. You will find there is No Limit in God. He will carry you on to home plate by His Angels that are in the Outfield.
Allow the word of God to rebuild in you what you seem to think as lost in HIs word.
