What does it mean to be truly committed to the community? As the northern New Mexico's largest employer, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has remained steadfast in their investments through the Community Commitment Plan that Los Alamos National Security, LLC (LANS) – the company that manages LANL – established in 2006. Even through hard times and budget negotiations, LANS has made strategic investments in education, economic development and community giving.
Carol A. Clark, publisher of the Los Alamos Daily Post (the online news source for the community) talks with Carole Rutten, deputy director of the LANL Community Programs Office. Interviewing each other, listeners gain a better understanding of what this commitment to the northern New Mexico region really means.

Bill Protzmann is a man on a mission: to raise awareness of the power of music as self care.
On Memorial Day weekend 2007 Protzmann premiered a new version of his one man show, Connected!, with a focus on using music as a self intervention tool for issues related to military service. In 2011, he launched Music Care Inc, a for profit corporation dedicated to providing education in music as adjunct treatment for post traumatic stress, depression, and anxiety.
Bill holds magna cum laude degrees in piano performance and creative writing, and has concertized and performed for many years with a focus on bringing music to audiences in non-traditional ways. His recording of “Amazing Grace” topped the mp3.com charts in July of 2000, and he has released two all-original CDs. He has performed and worked with opera stars, poets, Dixieland, jazz, rock and pop tribute bands, in musical theatre, and as a solo concert pianist and entertainer.

Building Your Community with Bishop Dr. Andrew Watkins, Sr. Ph.D.
In order for the black community to overcome the economic depression it experiences year in and year out, it must adopt the fundamental and systematic support of black own business. Black businesses must raise their level of service to be unmatched by any competitor. There should be mutual levels of respect and expectation between the black community and the black owned businesses operating there. The community must understand that every dollar spent outside the community is a dollar lost and never recovered and the entire community suffers.

Throughout the years unity within the black community continues to be a bone of contention. Once desegregation took place, and integration was in full effect, unity among the black community has continued to erode. Whether it’s in inner cities consisting of violence and the like, or black folks leaving for suburban living. The lack of togetherness and community has caused great harm for African Americans. Let’s discuss how to bring the U-N-I-T-Y back! Solution based radio!!
