Many communities strive to address issues of poverty and economic development, but the Kenwood Oakland Community Organization (KOCO) has actively maintained a vibrant community despite the infusion of drugs, guns, unemployment, and home foreclosings. This week it celebrates 50 years of success in motivating residents to remain actively involved in the lives of youth, elders, and all residents who desire a clean, safe, self sustaining community with good schools. Jeanette Taylor Ramann discusses some of the work that KOCO is doing in reaching out beyond its borders to connect with children abroad and spread the success that comes with cooperation between neighbors.
Dr. Gary Chapman. #1 New York Times Bestselling Author of the 5 Love Languages joins us to talk about his new book, Anger: Taming a Powerful Emotion.
As anyone who has attended one of his marriage conferences knows, Dr. Gary Chapman’s expertise in marriage begins with the success and failures he and his wife Karolyn have experienced in their marriage for more than 45 years. He is just the man to turn to for help on improving or healing our most important relationships. His own life experiences, plus over thirty-five years of pastoring and marriage counseling, led him to publish his first book in the Love Language series, The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate. Many of the millions of readers credit this continual New York Times bestseller with saving their marriages by showing them simple and practical ways to communicate love.
Dr. Chapman speaks to thousands of couples nationwide through his weekend marriage conferences. He hosts a nationally syndicated radio program, A Love Language Minute, and a Saturday morning program, Building Relationships with Dr. Gary Chapman, both airing on more than 400 stations. Dr. Chapman and his wife have two grown children and currently live in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he serves as senior associate pastor at Calvary Baptist Church.
Some creative thinking saved the broadband dreams of 10 cities in two Minnesota counties. Could cooperatives (co-ops) provide the magic bullet for municipalities encumbered with funding and political hurdles?
Communities in Renville and Sibley Counties created the RS Fiber Cooperative to address rural communication needs. Recently the communities decided to lend the co-op funds they need to build a fiber and wireless infrastructure to cover the towns and farmlands in the co-op's service area. The arrangement resolves several challenges that a number of communities face:
it was easier for cities to pass a bond to pay the co-op to build the network rather then have the cities build it;
co-ops’ existing community relationships translate into faster network take rates;
Minnesota is one of the 21 states with a law restricting public broadband.
Mark Erickson, Winthrop, MN EDA Director and a key contributor to the project joins us to talk us through the complexities of the financial arrangement and the benefits of having the co-op take the lead on the network buildout. He also discusses the role of co-ops in the bigger broadband picture as they take aggressive action in deploying networks.
My new book, Building the Gigabit City, Vol 2, devotes significant coverage to co-ops and their increasing impact on broadband.

IN SLAVERY DAYS WHEN THE SLAVEMASTER WOULD BARGE INTO THE SLAVE QUARTERS HE WOULD RAPE THE MOTHER, THE DAUGHTER EVEN THE GRANDMOTHER WHILE THE BLACKMAN WAS FORCED TO STAND BY AND WATCH AS HE HIMSELF WAS SOMETIME RAPED BY SICK EUEOPEANS AS WELL.
THIS SICK EURPOEAN MINDSTATE WOULD PERMEATE THE MINDS OF BLACK FOLK MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN POST SLAVERY WHO SEXUALLY VICTIMIZED OR WERE VICTIMS OF SICK SIBLINGS, FAMILY MEMBERS OR CLOSE FRIENDS, THEMSELVES VICTIMS OF A SICK SEXUAL, HOMO-SEXUAL EUROPEAN MINDSET.
TODAY EUROPEANS HAVE MADE HOMO-SEXUALITY NOT ONLY ACCEPTABLE BUT LEGAL, EVEN FASHIONABLE IN MOVIES, MUSIC, TELEVISION, THE EDUCATION SYSTEM AND SOME MEMBERS OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY FEEL AS IF THIS IS THEIR SO CALLED "COMING OUT PARTY" FOR THEM IF YOU WILL. HOMO-SEXUALS EVEN HAVE RIGHTS AND ARE ABLE TO MARRY THANKS TO SICK EUROPEANS WHO HAVE MADE YOU TO BELIEVE THAT IF YOU ARE NOT ARE NOT GAY, LESBIAN, BI-SEXUAL OR TRANSGENDER THAT YOU ARE NOT NORMAL WHEN THEY INDULGE IN IMMORAL SEXUAL PRACTICE.
SOME MEMBERS OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY WILL IDENTIFY WITH THE LBGT COMMUNITY BECAUSE GAY PEOPLE RUN THE WORLD AND POWERLESS PEOPLE FEEL THE NEED TO IDENTIFY WITH PEOPLE WITH THE POWER... EVEN IF THEY MAY BE GAY.
LITTLE BLACK BOYS AND GIRLS NOW ARE CONFUSED ABOUT THEIR SEXUALITY, CLAIMING THEY ARE GAY, TWO GAY MEN OR TWO GAY WOMEN IN THE HOUSEHOLD RAISING BLACK CHILDREN CONFUSING THEM NOT KNOWING OR EITHER NOT CARING ABOUT THE MESSAGE THE WHITEMAN IS PUTTING OUT IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY:
HOMO-SEXUALITY EQUALS NEGATIVE POPULATION GROWTH...
BLACK FOLKS ALWAYS WANT TO BE LIKE THE WHITEMAN WHICH WILL SOON COST US OUR EXISTENCE....
