    in Pop Culture

Howdy, folks!  Our Grindhouse Saturday broadcast (with Afronerd Radio) has been preempted and will be returning next week at the same Afronerd time-same Afronerd channel.  So check out our extended Comic Shoppe show today at 6pm EST and call in live at 646-915-9620.  The topics to be placed in the "blerdic" cyclotron this week are: Season 2 of the UK's In The Flesh returns next month and Dburt wonders is it the thinking man's Walking Dead; and speaking of returning shows, the crew gives you their thoughts about tonight's Orphan Black; getting back to last week's scheduled issue-what about that Amazon-Comixology purchase, anyway? ; famed director, Bryan Singer gets sued for sexual molestation just in time for the reboot of the X-men film franchise; are lesser known comic cons gaining in popularity because of the bigger ones?....case in point, Anaheim's Wondercon is in full swing this weekend; the team got a sneak peak at DC Animation's latest release, The Son Of Batman and lastly, does possibility of a Black Superman in DC's Earth Two measure up to Marvel's Miles Morales in the Ultimate-verse.  See you at 6pm!

The "Grind" Continues @ Saturday's Grindhouse, Courtesy of Afronerd Radio @6pm

    in Politics Conservative

We're back in full effect, folks!  Let's really keep it tight, truthful and terse. Welcome to our Grindhouse Saturdays broadcast with The Comic Shoppe at 6pm and Afronerd Radio batting second at 7pm EST.  For The Comic Shoppe segment, listen to Capt. Kirk, Dburt and Daryl B. defrag the following hard drives:  Bruce Timm's Batman 75th anniversary animated short, Strange Days hits the syberwebs; latest reports affirm that Marvel has their cinematic universe planned up to 2028-and some are concerned; Dburt receives Dark Horse's Sky Man, Max Brooks' Harlem Hellfighters and Gail Simone's Leaving Megalopolis books in the mail; Amazon acquires digital seller, Comixology; is it strange for Battlestar Galactica to be re-imagined for a third time?; and a Kickstarter campaign is underway to raise $50 million to bring back Stargate: Universe for a third season..whoa.  Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.

And then after The Shoppe, there's always Afronerd Radio airing promptly at 7pm.  Check out Dburt and Captain Kirk as they discuss the following current event connected topics:  looking at the other side of "Chiraq", Chicago's Urban Prep Academy achieves 100 college matriculation for the 5th consecutive year; and as Dburt had predicted, because of high profile African success stories, some American Blacks wish to be African (hint: too late); Stephen Colbert replaces David Letterman in 2015 for The Late Show but some are unhappy with such a "safe" choice and lastly, Shadow and Act highlights the Ad industry's first Black "Mad Man," Roy Eaton. Another stellar broadcast!

Graphic Policy Radio: SDCC 2013 Edition Take Two

    in Pop Culture

After last week's technical issues, Graphic Policy Radio is back and picking up where we left off. This week, Brett and Elana continue their discussion about San Diego Comic-Con 2013 and more.
    Being discussed:
ComiXology's Blank Page Project was a hit, but wouldn't it be better if there was no need for the Hero Initiative? The San Diego Police attempted to do some public relations and did so by having photo ops faking arrests. The white folks were sure amused! We'll discuss all that and more. So join us Monday at 10pm and we want to hear from you. Chat with us by calling in or Tweet at us @graphicpolicy
