Lionel's story began in Boulder, Colorado - many of his Baltimore buddies don't know that. His family moved to his adopted city when he was two. And B'more is where he fell in love with Jazz. R & B, too. In middle school, he was in love with Charlie Parker and Motown. In high school, so strong was his passion that he honed his musicality on clarinet, flute, piano and trombone - as well as saxophone.
His talent grew so rapidly that he won a special award - The Semper Fi Outstanding Musician Award that is given by the U.S. Marines. THAT was Lionel's graduation gift :) And that gift kept on giving at Morgan State - where he majored in Music Education. While there, he was in several ensembles - and played at the local clubs as much as his dedication to studies would allow. The Lionel Lyles Quintet was forming - so was the BUZZ.
In 2006, Lionel and his band had the opportunity to record "The September Sessions" - and yours truly was more than happy to play tracks from that album at a previous radio station. Audience reception was satisfying and there were numerous scenarios that developed because of the attention garnered from the project. Lionel had a chance to tour Europe, for example, via an invitation offered by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. But he was anxious to complete more education. We stayed in touch while he attended North Carolina's Central University. There, he was mentored by unbelievable artists and teachers - including Branford Marsalis and Joey Calderazzo.
With a Graduate degree and a wealth of teaching skills at his disposal, Lionel forged ahead and into the outer perimeters of his comfort zone. He is now considered a treasure in D.C. - with another album recorded. And more awards on the horizon. Count on that :) See you in the Chat Room on 5/5!

TOPIC: We will venture into new and uncharted territory, with Trinity as our guide. She will share with us what it means to be a Sound Oracle (yes, tell me MORE!), and all sorts of mysticism and magic surrounding the mysteries of the sonic realm.
Trinity S. Thomas, inneroracle.com, was born a “sensitive,” someone naturally intuitive who sees, hears, and feels more than most people. She became a consciousness researcher to discover a context and purpose for her unusual (and not always comfortable!) abilities.
Trinity’s gifts and work with clients include Visioning, Sound Healing, Soul Advocacy, and work with each individual’s Inner Oracle. Her research reveals that we are all naturally gifted with talents and abilities beyond what is considered ‘normal.’ And perhaps it is a good time to open to some of these programs!
Working as a hypnotherapist and crystal healer in Boulder, Colorado, she investigated Sound Healing to heal a many-year struggle with all sorts of illness regarding her throat. Someone recommended she sign up for a beginning Sound Healing class with the iconic Vickie Dodd….and it all began.
Meet author Ken Elliott. Ken is stopping by the show to 'chat' with me about his book, Manifesting 1 2 3 & You Don't Need # 3.
About the book:
Have you ever had the sense that your thoughts might actually be doing something? Imagine you are a genie and everything you wish begins to form up right in front of you. First is the thought and thought creates form. The author’s experiences and the stories in this book describe exactly how your thoughts take form. You have been doing this all your life, but it has never been fully explained for you until now. At last, the true Secret is revealed about how thoughts create reality. This is the game changer, the real knowledge behind the workings of manifesting and the law of attraction. This is that rare book with fundamentally new evidence that will change your view of the world. It clearly and simply explains creation itself.
About the author:
Ken Elliott is an author and artist living in Castle Rock, Colorado. He has experienced and collected astonishing stories for over 25 years. In a unique and convincing way, Ken learned how thought works, building objects and concepts in the unseen field around each of us. Ken is an accomplished speaker, passing this empowering information on to individuals and groups.
