From Vietnam to U.S Secretary of State - find out how Colin Powell’s military career led him to some of the most important roles in government, influencing politics throughout the world.
It’s an inspirational story of how a young man from Harlem went on to become the first African American Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the first black U.S Secretary of State under George W. Bush.
Colin Powell is making history happen, you can too.
While covering the gun control issue, I had in mind, the comments and reaction by the liberal press, to an interview with a man, many thought would be the 1st black president of the U.S. – Colin Powell.
He was Sec. of State, National Security Advisor, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Commander of the U.S. Army Forces Command. He’s from the Bronx!
HATED by black America, until he did the “turnaround” – he supported Barack Obama.
On Meet the Press, Powell had some strong word for his party, the GOP, accusing it of developing a “Dark Vein of Intolerance”.
Was he right? Does the GOP have to shift gears to become more acceptable to an arguably changing demographic? How far? Is the salvation for the black man, the Democratic Party? Is it any better or worse than the GOP?
Hillary Clinton made her grand stage, FINALLY testifying on the Benghazi incident. Some called it a “witch-hunt” (THEIR words, not mine). In fact, hearing it from them, she “won”! Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky stated that he would have relieved her of duty, for what he and others see as negligence, leading to the deaths of four Americans. Tune in this Saturday! You DON’T want to miss THIS ONE (Not that you ever want to on any other day …)
"On last Thursday night former New Hampshire governor John Sununu suggested—no, he plainly stated—that Gen. Colin Powell endorsed President Obama for a second term because both he and the president are black...Although General Powell has legitimate, policy-oriented reasons for supporting President Obama, let us, for the sake of argument, take Sununu’s comments to heart and consider what, if anything, is wrong with identity-based voting." ~(from The Daily Beast by James Braxton Peterson). Join Miss Mary, Dr. Janet Arceneaux & friends as we continue on the countdown to the election!

In response to Colin Powell's recent public request for the GOP to denounce "birtherism nonsense" and the "demonizing" of Barack Obama, Mike Zullo, Sheriff Arpaio's lead investigator in the Obama probe, has invited Colin Powell to visit the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and review the evidence they've gathered regarding document fraud related to at least two of Barack Obama's documents. According to Zullo, all of Colin Powell's expenses would be covered.
Zullo also said that Powell would be allowed to review all evidence include that which has not yet been released to the general public.
“So perhaps the real secretary Powell has yet to stand up. The downside of his great eminence is that he is judged by a higher standard. People are not itching for him to fail; they are disappointed if he doesn’t do great things.”
The above is an excerpt from the September 10th, 2001 Time Magazine article in which Colin Powell appears on the cover with the heading “Where Have You Gone, Colin Powell?”
An interesting position at the time given the fact that his urging of the American people to “trust me, trust me” during the Gulf War forever secured his stature as a true American leader.
Yet nearly 10 years later with Powell bearing the moniker of Secretary of State, the 2001 Time Magazine referenced pundits openly wondered if it was “unreasonable” to expect something else (re great things) from a man who in their words was the ultimate “staff guy” or “good soldier.”
Later articles such as the February 19th, 2004 “The Tragedy of Colin Powell: How the bush Presidency Destroyed Him” may even had led some to conclude that the man had ultimately crumbled under the weight of his own legend.
Powell ultimately resigned as Secretary of State on November 15th, 2004. While it was widely believed that he was asked to resign by the President’s Chief of Staff Andrew Card, there is no doubt that whether in victory or defeat, Colin Powell exemplifies the true leadership characteristics that have left an indelible imprint on the American political and societal landscape.
Joining me to share his thoughts on Powell as well as review his “13 Rules of Leadership's acclaimed author, lecturer and executive coach Dr. John Ullmen, Ph.D. Dr. Ullmen's books including his recently released “Who Wins Conflict? The Creative Alternative to Fight or Flight" and popular lectures on leadership for the UCLA Anderson School of Management has made him a much sought after expert on defining, directing and empowering leaders in what has become an increasingly globalized, complex world.
No “holiday” here as The Frat House Gang are bringing you a full post-Christmas program in their 172nd version of The Frat House Sports Show . . . right before the final weekend on the NFL regular season!
And, since we’re talking football . . . let’s take a look at the “State of the NFL QB.” There seems to be a lot of bad ones. Is this a lack of coaching? Schemes too complicated? Or, are young quarterbacks just rushed into the game too soon? What happens next year to Jay Cutler, Brian Hoyer, Colt McCoy, Ryan Mallett, Michael Vick . . . Johnny Football?
Topics then change to the left coast and Roger Goodell’s announcement that there will be no football in L.A next season, and what of Tony Sparano? Should he be the Raiders permanent head coach?
We've got "4 Minutes of Football" . . . AND, the final picks of the season in some of the most important games: Cleveland Browns – Baltimore Ravens / Carolina Panthers – Atlanta Falcons / Detroit Lions – Green Bay Packers / St. Louis Rams – Seattle Seahawks / Cincinnati Bengals – Pittsburgh Steelers.
With all of this and much more coming live, you know you want to listen up and chime in. Jump right in with the guys at 347 - 826 - 9964!

Meanwhile, back on earth, Will, Ruby Q and Piccolo pursue their dreams but experience nightmares.
