This week was CMA Week, and Matt and Shawn made sure to party it up! They also promote your chance to win a Justin Timberlake VIP package... in "suits and ties..."
And this week's #NUartist is Jennifer Knapp. Jennifer was at the height of her career when she did what most would consider unthinkable: she took a seven-year hiatus. Now, her unique ability to speak gracefully to music lovers from all walks of life fills a void in the unlikely intersection between the faith and LGBT communities.
It is hard to refer to either of the Jackson couple without mentioning the other. They are truly a team who have distinguished themselves as urban heroes both individually and as a couple. Both are CUBM graduates, with Helen earning her Masters in Organizational Leadership and Andrew working on his bachelor's degree as we broadcast. Helen also serves as the Recruiting Specialist for CUBM, while Andrew serves as building maintenance supervisor for the seminary in which CUBM has classes. Both the Jacksons join Karla and John today to talk about their lives together and their ministry philosophy that has earned them the well-deserved title of urban heroes!

Songwriter and Recording Artist JAMES HOUSE co-wrote Grammy Nominated Country Song of the Year “Ain’t That Lonely Yet” (recorded by Dwight Yoakam) and CMA Nominated Song of the Year “A Broken Wing” (recorded by Martina McBride) along with another smash hit "In A Week Or Two” (recorded by Diamond Rio).
Other artists to record his songs include Tina Turner, Olivia Newton-John, Rod Stewart, The Mavericks and Sara Evans - to name just several.
Born & raised in Sacramento, California, James pursued music in L.A. before making the move to Nashville in the late 1980s. Not long after the move, he was signed to MCA Records, where he began a string of chart hits like “Don’t Quit Me Now” and “Hard Times For An Honest Man.”
A switch to Epic Nashville produced the critically-acclaimed Days Gone By album and yielded the top 5 hit “This Is Me Missing You,” and top 20 singles “Real Good Way To Wind Up Lonesome” and “Little By Little.”
His latest album is entitled Songwriters Serenade. It features 10 songs co-written with James by some of the most successful songwriters in country music. One of the most talked about tracks has James singing the duet "Over Getting Over You" with newcomer Natalie Noone (daughter of famed founder/member of the Herman's Hermits, Peter Noone).

Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Virginia, Richard Leigh was born into a home filled with domestic violence that ultimately claimed the life of both parents. Richard became an orphan at the tender age of four.
Going from family to family, he sought comfort in the form of music and songwriting. By the time he was ten, he was performing at church and school functions. By the time he was a teen, he was performing in music venues. Despite his humble beginnings, Richard went on to write songs for the greatest country music artists in history, including Ray Charles, George Jones, Alabama, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Dixie Chicks, and more. Award trophies include a Grammy, CMA Award, and Richard is one of only ten songwriters in history to ever receive the Song of the Century award. Arguably his most famous song, Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue, reached #1 on both the Pop and Country charts, earning Richard his first Grammy. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1994. To date, Richard’s music has sold 50 million records and has made fourteen trips into the top ten, including eight #1 hits.
Join hosts Lynda Cheldelin Fell & Angie Cartwright as they talk with Richard Leigh about his humble beginnings and journey into stardom, and learn the story behind his keynote speech Three Minute Miracles: From Orphan to the Hall of Fame on Wednesday, March 18 beginning at 6 pm pacific / 9 pm eastern.
