James L. Bailey is interviewed as the author of the Contrast Community which is an intense discovery of the Sermon on the Mount and it's meaning. It deals with the beattitudes which appeals to those who have emptiness and desire mercy to those who have fullness and can give. He approaches the book as a tool for the church to use a transformative power to minister to the external world by employing lessons Jesus gave like turning the other cheek, giving the cloak off your back, walking the extra mile for someone. He also tackles broader lessons of Christ on adultery, anger and its potential damage and how to become perfect in Christ (don't swear, express hatred). The church can use these basic precepts as an effective ministry to help those who are suffering in their local community. He also explains the difference of believers in the 1st Century church who were rabbinical Jews, Pharisees, Gentiles and how Jewish converts had to deal with critics to come full circle in the Judeo-Christian belief and accept the Messiah.
James Bailey graduated from Capital University (1960) and Trinity Lutheran Seminary (1964) in Columbus, Ohio, before earning a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland (1967). After pastoring in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jim taught at Trinity Lutheran Seminary (1970-74), Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota (1975-85), and Wartburg Theological Seminary (1985-2003). Jim is now the John S. and William A. Wagner Professor Emeritus of Biblical Theology at Wartburg Seminary, having retired from full-time teaching in 2003. Jim has published several Bible studies for the church and is co-author of Literary Forms in the New Testament. He most recently published Contrast Community: Practicing the Sermon on the Mount, the topic for his session during Re-formation and Renewal. Jim and his wife Judy still reside in Dubuque, Iowa.
In the existing state of religious declension, there is crying need of earnest, faithful Nehemiahs and Ezras,--men who will not shun to call sin by its right name, and who will not shrink from vindicating the honour of God. Those upon whom God has laid the burden of his work are not to hold their peace, and cover prevailing evils with a cloak of false charity. Men of courage and energy are needed to expose fashionable sins. Iniquity must not be palliated and excused. Those who lead the church of God to follow the customs and practices of the world, are not to be lauded and exalted. No regard for family or position will hinder the faithful servants of Christ from guarding the interests of his people. God is no respecter of persons. Great light and special privileges bring increased responsibility. When those who have been favoured or honoured of God, commit sin, their influence goes very far to encourage others in transgression. And if, by their example, the faith of another is weakened, and moral and religious principle is broken down, the wrath of God will surely come upon those betrayers of their sacred trust.--ST, January 24, 1884 par. 9.

My first guest on Saturday's show is author Nikkyea Williams. Nikkyea will be chatting with me about her book, Prison Break: A Couple's Journey Into Righteousness and Beyond the Prison Walls.
About the book:
This book is a witness that God can use anyone in any position to be a help to another person. The person you are counting out could very well be the one chosen to help get you to your next level! So let's walk in Matthew 7. Do not judge others, no matter what the situation. You are no better than the next person. We are all God's creation.
About the author:
Nikkyea Williams is a Paralegal who is now furthering her education to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies. She Loves God and has just been blessed with the gift of writing. She has written a lot of poetry, done spoken word pieces and things of that sort but never thought that she would be using her gift and sharing her life stories with the world.
In my second hour, I'll be chatting with author Anthony Mayfield about his book, Neon Nights
About the book:
There are angels and there are angels. But you’ve never seen an angel like this before. Any angel wrapped in flesh is like superman with a kryptonite cloak on: tired, weak, frail, and nothing more than an ordinary man, but Johnny Angel defies the definition of ordinary.
About the author:
Over the years, I have written poems, plays, scripts, columns, articles, and an Internet Soap Opera called Chocolate Kisses that I wrote for a website called Netnoir. In short, I enjoy creative writing. God has given me many stories to tell and I hope and pray that I get the opportunity to do just that
There is a THREAT right here in the United States! A threat that will challenge our very survival as a nation. The Government knows about it and won't do a thing to stop it. While they are worried about Evangelicals, Veterans, and Legal Gun owners as being "domestic terrorists," we have Actual terrorists actually TRAINING right here on US soil. People need to ARM themselves in order to be prepared for when these Islamic Crazies start Jihad. If we don't, we will regret it! They will try to attack, when they think we are at our weakest. They are like Prey lying in wait. Luke 22:36 He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.(NIV)
To anyone who hasn’t lost their parents, here’s some news – you never get over it'
This is an excert from an artical written for the Guardian.com Entitled They're my parents. I miss them by: Eleni Kyriacou:Friday 9 December 2011 19.05 EST
On a bitterly cold April morning in 1998, my father died of a heart attack. The shock of his death was like a punch to the stomach. It was the first bereavement I'd experienced up close. For weeks, a cloak of confusion, rage and disbelief descended. By contrast, my mother's death, five years later, held no shock. It arrived clearly signposted, with a predictability that was agonising: diagnosis, scan, operation, false hope, radiotherapy, hospice, morphine, death.
At 39 I'd become an adult orphan, a member of the club that nobody wants to join but most will. One parent dying was devastating; but when my mother died it changed me for ever. I felt anchorless, as if I was no longer anyone's child. I may have looked the same but something inside me shifted.
A friend likens being an adult orphan to being the only tree left standing in a forest. I know what she means. For me it's as if my roots have been hacked away: my parents are the reason I'm here, what held me up. They had been the one stable point during my whole life, the constant. Yes, I'm an adult and can stand alone. But there are times I still need my mother and father, times I feel very alone.
Join Uptown and Zaiyah as they discuss this and other important topics on this weeks edition of Zaiyah's House.
34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility): To build and maintain our community together and make our brothers' and sisters' problems our problems, and to solve them together.
This week's Theme: from The ORACLE Presents Ten Pages of Nothing But The Truth Volume 4, Truth #6 FIND
Find a G-D to know, find your true self, find the real friend and family to call your own. Find in your G-D the truth that is yours. Be careful, you might find your truth isn't what you thought it was and may be more than you thiought it could be.
Find a place in your heart, room for the souls who seek to be found. You may be the haven they need to find themselves.
Find the silver lining in the tarnished and tattooed tapestry of life. It may be worn and frayed, but it is your cloak of honor to be worn with pride and the knowledge that each tear is a mark of your triumph over the inevitabilities of life.
