RIVERS IN A DESERT is excited to announce another rare visit from our good friend TONY "GUITAR" COPELAND!!
Tony "Guitar" Copeland is a self-taught musician from a musical family. By age 5 Tony "Guitar" had settled in his mind to becoming a professional musician. He taught himself to play lead and bass guitars, drums, french horn and later piano. Tony is also an accomplished vocalist whose style is similar to Frankie Beverly of the R&B group "Maze featuring Frankie Beverly". His jazz-style is a cross between gospel, reggae, rhythm and blues, fusion and funk, which appeals to young as well as mature audiences worldwide. It's been stated that he sounds like "George Benson", "Norman Brown" and "Earl Kluh" etc.
Tony Guitar Copeland recently journeyed to the east coast, where he produced featured vocalist, Reginald and Reginald Halsey Jr., who teamed up and did a wonderful job on "Just My Imagination" for his upcoming "Waterfalls" CD release, produced by Grammy award winning, Felton Pilate Co-founder and current member of famous R&B group ConFunkshun.
Copeland is not new to the music industry however; he released the "Panoramic View" jazz project which he wrote and produced on his Indie label "Danay Records" in 2010. You will find it at www.cdbaby.com/cd/tonycopeland.
2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

Joseph is acting as the Audio Engineer to make all this happen
This show was an experiment to see what would happen and served as the start of the learning curve

Professor Gregg Hammond~ Musician, Mentor, Guitar Teacher, Philanthropist, Author. Born in DC Gregg's family moved away in the late 60's to escape the violence of the riots. The move landed him in the Florida Keys where he grew up and learned to live in the natural surroundings, worked teaching fishing, snorkeling, & exploring in the backcountry islands of the Keys. Hurricane's destroyed his guitar studio and then his home. With his dog and a guitar, he began a journey to find a larger purpose for his life. He traveled highways and wilderness mountains, searching for his truth. Returning to DC in 2002, Gregg experienced violence in the streets. His father and he were randomly attacked by a gang of kids in 04. Held at gunpoint by teens in 05, and nearly ambushed again from another gang in 06. These experiences compelled him to take action to make a difference. He founded GNG DC, and volunteers his time, wearing many hats within the charity to keep it going. He has witnessed miracles in the classroom. His VISION includes bringing the world together, all playing the same song at the same time, featuring many of the Guitars Not Guns students up on the stages with great musicians like Paul McCartney, U2, Ben Harper, and Sting to mention a few on the list.
It's so fabulous to tell you how AWESOME our friend, David. P. Stevens, is doing. Since his last visit on the show, he has played the Iridium in New York, on the Cap Jazz Cruise, toured Europe and completed a new album! Oh - and his website is now updated to reflect the ever-evolving direction of "Mr. Guitar" :-D
This amazing guitarist/vocalist/composer/producer is determined to keep taking us on journeys with his music. David is not content to let anything BE. He wants to stretch the canvas, find new paint, and then draw outside the lines - are you feeling me? Jazz and Soul and Funk and Romance and music that's older than him combined with the young that he IS - it's all in that juicy Hybrid that is his and his alone.
You may have known David when he recorded "Timeless" or "The Shedd" or his last CD called "Epiphany." THAT was a star-studded project (Geralds Albright, Veasley, Carol Riddick, Frank McComb, Elan Trotman!) And "Mr. Guitar" is blessed with names as well, including a fellow Philadelphian, Gail Jhonson!
Let's celebrate the new layer of success that this bright and refreshing talent is just about to experience - "Mr. Guitar" will drop on 8/5/2014. We'll hear tracks from it and talk to David about how it came together - as well as the upcoming gigs where you can see his artistry POP!
We might just have another guest on Tuesday's show - "The Soulful Nerd", Kenny Wesley! Kenny has had some truly astounding success in the Washington, D.C. area and beyond. He's got a hot song on the charts with our friend, Mycah Chevalier, and he will also be in the house this Saturday - at the Christian de Mesones celebration at K2! Funny how our guests keep tying together, huh? That's the beauty of HYBRID :)
