This evening, I will interview and play the music of vocalist Loide Jorge.  Although she was born in France to her Mozambican mother and Guinea-Bissauan father, Loide grew up in California.  Presently, she is residing in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. For the last ten years, she has shared her music in jazz clubs throughout the United States and Europe.  At a tribute for Miriam Makeba in a jazz club in New York, she opened for  Paul Simon. In addition, she has opened for the legendary Hugh Masekela and Oliver Mtukudzi. Loide cites Sarah Vaughn, Cesaria Evora and Miriam Makeba as some of her greatest musical influences, but she believes it is her African heritage that has provided her with a fresh musical perspective, a unique sound, and her native tongue.  Join us this, evening at Jazz Notes where we are keeping jazz alive.
