    Healing House Radio with Dr. Ayleen - For Want of a Nail

    in Spirituality

    For want of a nail, the shoe was lost;
    For want of a shoe, the horse was lost;
    For want of a horse, the rider was lost;
    For want of a rider, the message was lost;
    For want of the message, the battle was lost;
    For want of a battle, the kingdom was lost,
    And all for the want of a nail. - John Gowers

    This old childrens nursery rhyme is a classic reminder of how often it is the small details that have the greatest impact on our lives and the lives of others.  Today, we'll be exploring the process of taking notice of the subtle, sometimes overlooked aspects of daily living that can lead to either a tremendous help or hindrance in achieving our goals.  Often we will either place what we need on the proverbial back burner in order to take care of others, or pass up a chance to nuture another because we are absorbed in our own reality.  The best place of balance is somewhere in the middle!

    FranFriedman

    in Music

    Fran Friedman (Frankie) has been a bassist for several decades.  She was a full time player in the 70’s, when live bands filled the clubs 7 nights a week.  She went back to school in the early 1980’s and became a clinical psychologist, but continued playing in local clubs in Cleveland, OH. While her roots and first love are in the blues, Fran has enjoyed playing a variety of classic rock, R&B, and pop, along with high energy blues throughout the years. After relocating to Florida in 2012, she connected with the local blues scene and became the bass player at a Saturday night blues jam in Lauderhill.  Always interested in connecting with and promoting other female players, she started a Facebook group South Florida Women in Music as a free forum for local women musicians to promote their events. Her company, Breakout Productions produced a sold-out event called Three Diva Night, highlighting several of South Florida’s female performers, including Mary Jane Cunningham, Sistah Mary Beth, and Rachelle Coba, whom she backed with Frankie’s Backline Blues Band. Currently, she has a new projects, including another Diva night in 2016.  Fran welcomes female singers, instrumentalists, songwriters, and those who support them to join South Florida Women in Music on Facebook to grow a thriving community for local women in music.  Promote yourself shamelessly!

    DRAGNET "Sixteen Jewel Thieves" The Golden Age Of Radio Original Broadcast 1950

    in Television

    DRAGNET: This exciting episode is titled "Sixteen Jewel Thieves". Sit back, relax, transport yourself back in time to the Golden Age of Radio

    Dragnet  is an American radio series, enacting the cases of a dedicated Los Angeles police etective, Sergeant Joe Friday and his partners. The show takes its name from the police term "dragnet", meaning a system of coordinated measures for apprehending criminals or suspects.

    Dragnet is perhaps the most famous and influential police procedural drama in media history. The series gave audience members a feel for the boredom and drudgery, as well as the danger and heroism, of police work. Dragnet earned praise for improving the public opinion of police officers.

    Actor and producer Jack Webb's aims in Dragnet were for realism and unpretentious acting.

    Of all the crime dramas that ever appeared on radio, none can beat the intencity and suspence of DRAGNET. It's no-nonsense approach to presenting the dry, but realistic daily routines of police work, plus the stark drama of fighting criminals, made this series an all-time classic, both on radio, and later on, television. DRAGNET continues to be an all-time classic, and, is the drama that set the standard of all police dramas that followed it, have tried to emulate. None have been able to do so since.
