Brandon McCladdie earned starting role at cornerback late in his freshman campaign... selected as a team captain for the 2012 and 2013 season, and has built on that progression in his game. In 2013, McCladdie accepted his invitation to play in the Medal of Honor Bowl a collection of some of the top seniors in the nation. There's already one Citadel cornerback in the NFL - Cortez Allen of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Like Allen, McCladdie is another prospect that College2Pro.com featured in the NFL Draft process. At 6-1 and 200 pounds, McCladdie is big for a cornerback.

Special Guest includes former Tennessee Volunteers DE and Atlanta Falcons DE Chuck Smith. Smith was a standout for the Volunteers from 1990-1991. He had incredibble speed and power off the edge and was a second round draft pick (51st overall) in the 1992 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.
In his stellar nine year career, Smith had amassed 58.5 sacks with 3 interceptions and 1 touchdown. Smith was an All-Pro selection in 1997 and was the team captain of the Falcons team that played in the Super Bowl in 1998 against the Denver Broncos.
Smith was explosive at the point of attack and had great strength in beating opposing offensive lineman to get to opposing quarterbacks. Smith utilized excellent technique and footwork in becoming one of the best pass rushers in the league.
Smith was an assistant coach with the Baltimore Ravens (2008) and New York Jets (2009). He was an assistant coach for his alma mater the Tennessee Volunteers in 2010 and 2011.
Smith continues to mentor and train younger college and NFL athletes in his sports performance camp in Atlanta. Some players that have trained with Chuck are: Ray Lewis, Robert Ayers, Shaun Ellis, Albert Haynesworth, Bart Scott, Dee Ford, George Selvie and Trevor Pryce.

Another month has flipped on the calendar, and that means we are one step closer to college football. Mississippi State's fans are excited about the season, as are the fans of most teams, so we will start to dig in to the season previews that we are doing over at MaroonAndWhiteNation.com.
I also want to talk about a story that Beast Man Steve posted on his website 3rdand57.com a week and a half ago. It talked about how Ole Miss Compliance had another victory that most of us had forgotten about. It was an odd matter to start with, but Ole Miss is setting the tone that Mississippi State's Compliance Department should be following.
Last, we can't get ready for the 2014 season without talking about expectations. Expectations help guide the way we feel about our respective teams. If the team met or exceeded those expectations, we are normally pretty happy. If they didn't live up to them, then fans get upset. So what are realistic expectations, and what should we be hoping for from the 2014 Bulldogs? We will dive into that as well this afternoon, so I hope ypu can join me!

Today we look at some of the "news worthy" events that are shaping up the political scene for the near future and beyond.
There are many issues facing this country. Some are being addressed while others are getting little more than lip-service.
Are politicians losing focus on reality? Ie the voting public becoming disillusioned or do they just do not care?
This and more can be found when we jump "In the Pickle Barrel" this morning at 7AM-8:30AM EST.
