108 ROCK STAR GUITARS™
By Lisa S. Johnson – Foreword by Les Paul
About fifteen years ago, Lisa S. Johnson was working as a technical sales representative for Kodak. In order to gain a greater knowledge of Kodak's product line, she bought her own professional grade camera equipment and began shooting still images in her spare time.
The culmination of that journey is available now. 108 Rock Star Guitars is a 396-page, leather-bound behemoth brimming with beautiful, elegant images of some of the most iconic and recognized instruments the world has ever known. The subjects who allowed their most prized possessions to be photographed by Johnson reads like a veritable who's who of rock guitar royalty. More than that though, Johnson's work is threaded with personal stories detailing her own epic adventure to discover and celebrate these wondrous instruments. It wasn't always easy, but it came out looking oh, so good.

The prolific Athens, Georgia based songwriter, Ken Will Morton, will release his 7th full-length release All’s Fair In Love & War on Rara Avis Records on June 5, 2015.
All’s Fair In Love & War is the follow up to his highly acclaimed 2012 release, Slow Burn. The new recording compiles 19 new songs (plus a hidden track) written in the wake of the dissolution of a long term relationship and with Morton finding himself living alone in a mobile home. Soon after, he’d written more than enough material for a double album (hence, initial title was A Double From A Single Wide). Morton converted his home to facilitate writing and recording music at anytime day or night, with wires and cables, guitars, amps and lyric sheets everywhere. Determined to hold on to the essence of this new work, and with the help and encouragement of engineer J.P Pruett, the entire album was made in the comfort of his home. Morton played all instruments.
I will be sittind down with Ken to discuss his new CD and indeed his career

Van Hunt, the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter/producer has announced his fifth studio album The Fun Rises, TheFun Sets to be released May 5th via Nashville-based Thirty Tigers and Hunt's own label godless-hotspot. Like its predecessor - 2011's What Were You Hoping For?, which The New York Times hailed as "ambitious and exciting" - The Fun Rises, The FunSets is enticingly adventurous. Of the album Van Hunt states: ""The drive to create something new and different is what keeps me excited and engaged as an artist. It's the thrill of appearing with The Afghan Whigs at Coachella and then performing at a gospel quartet music special all in the same week. The excitement is in constantly evolving as an artist. It's how I got from my first album,Van Hunt (alternative soul, electro-funk music influenced by Prince and The Ohio Players), to my last album What Were You Hoping For?, which was Bowie-influenced, progressive rock and soul." Full of African rhythms, blues and funk, the new album is full of contemporary components often found in the music of St. Vincent, James Blake, Dev Hynes and FKA Twigs. "It is the history of Black- American music filtered through modern technology," explains Hunt.
Today you can hear the first single off the album "Vega (stripes on)," a percolating, lusty track that simmers with jangly Howlin' Wolf-style guitars closed with a short rhyme reminiscent of early Raekwon. Pre-order the album now and check out the track above.

Until You Walk The Path, You Won’t Know Where it Goes will be chatting with musician, author, and President of Guitars Not Guns, Gregg Hammond on April 16.2015 at 1 pm eastern as he talks about how the arts makes positive changes in children and teenagers' lives.
Musician, mentor, guitar teacher, philanthropist, and author born in DC. Gregg's family moved away from DC in the late 60's to escape the violence of the riots. The move landed him in the Florida Keys, where he grew up learning to live in the natural surroundings, teaching fishing, snorkeling, & exploring in the back country islands of the Keys. Hurricanes destroyed his guitar studio and then his home. With his dog and a guitar, he began a journey to find a larger purpose for his life. He traveled highways and mountain wilderness searching for his truth. Returning to DC in 2002, Gregg experienced violence in the streets. He and his father were randomly attacked by a gang of kids in '04. He was held at gunpoint by teens in '05, and nearly ambushed again by another gang in '06. These experiences compelled him to take action to make a difference. He founded GNG DC and volunteers his time wearing many hats within the charity to keep it going. He has witnessed miracles in the classroom. His vision includes bringing the world together, all playing the same song at the same time, featuring many of the Guitars Not Guns students up on the stages with great musicians like Paul McCartney, U2, and Ben Harper.
Hailing from the land of catfish, moonshine, and grits, Pat Fitzhugh is best known for his books about the history, legends, and lore of the American South. From the eerie swamps of Louisiana to the ghostly homes and misty mountains of Virginia, Fitzhugh's writing embodies the passions, fears, and tragedies of a region shrouded in mystery and rich in folklore. His reverence for the past and scholarly interest in the supernatural are strikingly evident in his style of writing, which not only tingles the spine, but exudes a profound sense of history and place. “I take yarns of history, legends, and tragedy, and I weave them into stories that not only entertain, but also shed light on the region's people and past. Tales of ghosts, haints, and spooks are often scary, but adding layers of history and culture creates a sense of realism that makes them even scarier.” Fitzhugh is currently working on the thirteenth anniversary edition of his popular title, The Bell Witch: The Full Account (Armand Press), which has become a staple of modern, history-based ghost research. When not writing books or telling stories, Pat Fitzhugh enjoys photography, eating Southern cuisine, playing loud guitars, and fishing at Turkey Creek.
