Jennifer shares "I grew up feeling unloved and unworthy. I had deeply embedded negative thoughts and feelings that drove me to seek comfort in negative things. After loosing my virginity to a sexual assualt at 12, I began to seek comfort in drugs and older men. After a series of abusive relationships, I ended up with what I thought was someone who took care of me and truly loved me. That man quickly turned me onto iv drug use and started grooming me for a darkness I had never known existed. What started as being a dancer at local strip clubs quickly evolved into placing ads on Craigslist. Before I realized that my soul was being emptied, I found myself being raped regularly, kidnapped, held hostage, sold to gangs and branded. After 5-6 years of enslavement, including birthing my last child by myself on a strangers floor, I was able to escape. Only to be left with 4 semingly permant marks of demorilization and constant reminders of the violence I escaped. After 8 months of saving I was able to fund my first of the four cover ups of my brandings. That is when a very special person came into my life and sponsored me to have my remaining coverups done. The feeling of freedom and empowerment I felt reclaiming my body was amazing and life changing. That is when I founded Survivor's Ink. It quickly became a non-profit strictly for survivors of human trafficking who have been branded or scarred from their traffickers, abusers and time of enslavement. Not only have I been able to give this freeing gift to other survivors. I have found my strenth, myself and healing by us uniting and fighting back against human trafficking and grip of that darkness. I now have been able to try to use my story to raise money for the strongest, most amazing survivors ever! My sisters.

Isaiah 57:15 says this, For thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, "I dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite. And the truth be known, God loves us so much he will allow us to hit our rock bottom if it means finding Him. Sometimes I must get honest with myself and say I at times don't really want to be broken. Somehow that just sounds like losing or second best, our flesh gets in the way and says we don't need fixing, mending, trials, suffering or difficultiies to help us draw close to Almighty God. The real question is where will I go to get answers for my own brokenness? Because true colors are revealed when we go through those fiery trials of life. They let us know where we stand in our faith in God and where we are in our walk with Him. It often leaves us spiritually naked and in need of more than we can offer ourselves. We turn to other vices to help sooth the pain such as alcohol, drugs or ography. When God only wants whats best for us he will at times allow pain and difficulty to deepen our relationship with Him and be broken, mended and made whole....Thats His plan.

The last season the show aired, I spoke on how sex can become a hiding place for many people. In this show I want to touch on how alcohol can also be used as a coping mechanism to deal with major pain, disappointment, shame, etc. So many people drink alcohol and do not realize that they are drinking it for far deeper reasons than to just "get tipsy" or because the taste is enjoyed.
I just want to point out that a person does not necessarily have to classified as an alchoholic to have an alchohol problem. So many people are able to function pretty well with alchohol and other drugs. They are able to hide it well and carry on with their external lives as if nothing is wrong. Sometimes others, especially close loved ones, are able to tell that something is wrong, but are not always able to pinpoint the causes and the true depth of the issue.
I wanted to speak on this because I have experienced this very destructive secret life. This may help someone who is currently struggling or someone who might think they know someone who is.
According to the National Institute on Alchohol Abuse and Alcoholism, in the United States nearly 88,000 people die annually (approximately 62,000 men and 26,000 women). Alcohol is the 3rd leading cause of death in the US. Therefore, this is a serious thing and it needs to be addressed. God does not intend for us to suffer in this way.
Tonight, on The Nadi: we'll look at funerals and death and the customs that have surrounded them. Do we, as a faith-based community, handle them accordingly? Then, we'll look at the rise of drugs within the community in lieu of the article in this month's issue of The Chaldean News: including the use of Heroin. More cases are coming out in the open, and it's becoming less taboo. What can be done to deal with this issue? Listeners are encouraged to call in at 347-857-3847. Tune in tonight from 9PM-11PM
James O. Born knows what he's writing about. He is an agent with the DEA and a highly regarded author of fiction. Authors on the Air host Pam Stack chats with author James O. Born LIVE on Monday, April 20th at 8pm ET. Here is more about James. When I was new to police work, as an agent with U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, I had an unrealistic view of what my job would be like. On television, DEA agents are in shoot-outs and get the chicks but in real life they follow suspected drug violators around until they can make a case. If you're a new guy, no one in the DEA much cares about family life or other interests, you just drive. I read a lot of Tom Clancy and W.E.B. Griffin because I liked the idea of learning something about the military. I would read the occasional police book but felt the books didn't reflect my experience as a cop. I was not a CIA trained assassin. I could not rip a shotgun out of someone's hands without suffering a catastrophic injury. I didn't crawl out of crushed police cars and shake off the injury. Neither did any cop I knew. So I wrote a book based on real police work with a ficitonal plot. Buy James's books here http://amzn.to/1zxiA29.

“Our drug laws in this country, as a whole, need a revolution of common sense and compassion,” Booker explains.
Under the proposed bill, marijuana would be reclassified allowing for more research into its medical benefits, while allowing U.S. military veterans to get a prescription for marijuana for the treatment of illnesses, including PTSD.
“Once you make the class of drugs Schedule 2, you can research it and find out what are the medical impacts, and when can you use it” Gillibrand said. “That is what’s necessary here, it’s so simple.”
Booker then turned to his fellow lawmakers who have admitted to smoking weed.
“Let’s stop the pot hypocrisy,” Booker said as Gillibrand laughed. “We now have three presidents that have admitted to smoking marijuana. People in public office, all throughout the Senate, have said, ‘Hey, I’ve smoked marijuana recreationally.’ How much of a hypocrite do you have to be to say that I broke American laws using pot as a recreational thing, that I’m not going to support this idea, as a medicine for severely sick people, that they shouldn’t be able to access this drug.”
Later in the program, President Barack Obama gave qualified support to the bill, saying, “We need to follow the science.”
Let's talk about this age old fact that people ignore on a daily basis and look at some examples of what has happened to some people who ignored this fact. Join the show at 10:00am. Call (818)301-5834.
