#272 Returning Author Kevin Schoeppel with Melanie: A Christian Medium’s Life

    in Spirituality

Please join Dave the Mystic on Monday, May 2nd at 8PM MDT with guest author Kevin Schoeppel.  Kevin was raised in in Southern Baptist churches, and began teaching the Bible in 1992. In 1999 he was ordained as a deacon by Pima Street Baptist Church of Tucson and in 2006 was elected Adult Education Director of the church. His interest in psychics began in 1975 with a girlfriend who could predict the future. This relationship sparked his interest in social attitudes towards psychics, and in how psychic ability actually worked. He married his wife Stanna—also a psychic—in 1978.

In the mid-2000’s, as paranormal-themed TV shows appeared, Kevin’s students had questions about what the Bible really said about psychics and mediums. Upon joining Facebook in 2009, Kevin friended several mediums who were happy to share their experiences with him upon realizing that he accepted them and their gifts. In 2010 he met Melanie Runyan, a medium in Kingman, AZ. She, along with Stanna, encouraged Kevin to write The Bible: The Truth about Psychics & Spiritual Gifts, which was published in 2013. He and Melanie remained close friends until her passing in March 2014.

As a result of the book, which teaches how the Bible supports psychic and mediumship abilities as true spiritual gifts, Kevin has been the featured guest on several Internet talk shows, such as David M. Baker’s Beyond The Gate Radio, Christina George’s Paranormal Connections, and Peggy S. Imm-Anesi’s Signs Our Loved Ones Send Us. His second book, Melanie: A Christian Medium’s Life and her Gifts of Spirit, to honor  Melanie’s memory, was published in late 2015.

    Blessings!

debunking of the Coptic language pt 4

    in Culture

Coptic literature is the body of writings in the Coptic language of Egypt, the last stage of the indigenous Egyptian language. It comprises mostly Christian texts dating after the 2nd century AD, but also includes Old Coptic writings that predate the Christian era. There have been only a few attempts to comprehensively present Coptic literature[1] Religious literature Edit The writings of Anthony the Great, Pachomius and Shenouda the Archimandrite are among the earliest examples of Egyptian Christian literature in Coptic. Shenouda was a popular religious leader who made extensive use of his native Coptic tongue instead of Greek as was the custom during his time. This led to an increase in the use of Coptic and its standardization as a literary language. Most Coptic literature was written in the Sahidic dialect until about the 11th century AD.[2] The earliest original writings in Coptic language were the letters by St. Anthony of Egypt, first of the “Desert Fathers.” During the 3rd and 4th centuries many ecclesiastics and monks wrote in Coptic. The first Pope of Alexandria to write in both Coptic and Greek was Pope Athanasius. Much Coptic literature is now lost, as the Copts began to use Arabic. Texts such as the Apocalypse of Samuel of Kalamoun deplore the loss of Coptic; but are themselves now only extant in Arabic.

UCC Show 3.18 - What's In A Name 3: The Names of Satan

    in Christianity

We talked about the names of God back on February 23rd, and then on April 5th we talked about the names, types and shadows of Jesus Christ. Now we turn our study of names to a much lesser being... Satan.

Some claim him to be fantasy and fiction; something created solely to keep people under control. Others ascribe him as much power as God Himself... Or more. Those in the middle of these two ends of the spectrum believe him to be nothing more than a tempting spirit; others, that he is bound and unmoving in Hell; and still more that he is the antithesis of Jesus Christ.

Much can be learned about Satan by simply understanding what he is referred to as within the Bible. His names and titles, when learned and understood, can tell us a great deal about the enemy of our souls. For this reason, we now shine a light into the darkness to expose the truth about... The Devil.
