    Melody Balthaser,Seeking Sophie

    in Books

Melody, author of inspirational historical fiction, Seeking Sophie, lives in rural Pennsylvania with her husband of twenty-four years. They have two grown daughters and a ten year-old son. She has had the privilege of both being a homeschooling, stay-at-home mom and a full-time working mom. For more than twenty years she has been very involved in natural healing as a student of various modalities and as a certified reflexologist. Currently, Melody works as a service writer in a large machinery dealership. She has traveled to Africa for a non-profit organization that aids orphans in Zambia and has been involved in children’s and women’s ministry at her church.

Diversity is a must for Melody and she enjoys a wide variety of pastimes. Traveling, hiking, camping and kayaking are some of her favorite activities.

Melody's passion is to encourage people to open up and let the love of God free them of fear and rejection to live the adventurous life their Creator intended. She hopes, though her fiction, readers can relax with an entertaining saga and take their own transforming journey to the Father’s heart.

In 1858 New England, orphaned, indentured servant Sophie Stalz stabs her master to protect herself from rape. Now she must rely on her brother and his friends to protect her. Escaping through the Underground Railroad, Sophie finds herself stranded on an island in the hands of a stranger.

Surrounded by the sea and occupied with the duties of a lighthouse keeper, Jackson Scott just wants to be left alone with his memories. His fortress is about to crumble when his friend deposits Sophie on his doorstep. An old debt needs to be paid and the cost is dear.

As her master is Seeking Sophie, will Sophie and Jackson find a life together free from their past?

    Forshia Ross,No Secondhand Rose

    in Books

“Forshia, you seem to hear God’s voice so clearly,” say many that have heard her speak. “How did you know that’s exactly what I needed?” A gifted teacher, speaker, and author, Forshia Ross has a strong ability to identify where you are and bring you where you need to be. Change happens! Healings happen! Nothing is impossible when God speaks His plan and purpose! A dynamic speaker with a heart after God, Forshia has a passion to see His redemptive plan played out in the lives of others. And because God has so graciously and powerfully healed Forshia from destructive patterns in her life, she desires that others experience healing as promised in Isaiah 61. She gives hope to the brokenhearted and stirs the hearts of the complacent. She challenges others to lead a life of obedience to God.

You will be amazed as Forshia provides just the right keys to unlock the hindrances of the heart that keep you from serving God with greater joy and purpose. After all, the Bible says that where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Using her own experiences as a backdrop and the Word of God as a foundation, she will unfold the scriptures in such a way, that you will definitely come away saying, "I can do this! With God's help, I can really do this!" You won’t be disappointed when you discover that God wants the best for you.

A licensed and ordained minister, Pastor Forshia Ross is the founder and director of Treasures from the Heart Ministry. She has a television and radio program which gives practical Biblical insight for daily living and is the author of "No Secondhand Rose" and "The Wilderness Shall Blossom Like the Rose", the first and second of a trilogy about her spiritual journey to wholeness. Her website, treasuresfromtheheart.org is reaching around the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Lori Stanley Roeleveld,Running from a Crazy Man

    in Books

You’ll find yourself saying as I did: just one more chapter. And one more. And one more. ~ Jerry B. Jenkins

You're restless. Trouble has you gasping beside the narrow road. This is your invitation back to the adventure.

Some Christians leave their relationship with God in a sealed box like a collectible that will be worth something "someday." Not you. You wholeheartedly answered the call to follow Him into the great adventure.

Then, something unexpected happened that left you gasping beside the narrow road. You thought you were following Jesus but now it feels as if all you're doing is running from a crazy man. Even knocked down, though, you seek the strength to continue the journey.

This isn't a book for the happily comfortable. This is a book for the restless Jesus lover, the longsuffering disciple, the openhearted believer. Be forewarned. The challenges inside are designed to unsettle you as well as provide practical suggestions for thriving on the narrow road even if trouble is your travel companion.

Running from a Crazy Man (and Other Adventures Traveling with Jesus) is a siren call to the modern believer that the God-adventure can happen even when, like King David, you re running from a crazy man.

George Taylor,Sue Badeau and Curt and Sandra Lovelace!

    in Books

My wife and I met up with Sue Badeau outside Atlanta one Saturday afternoon.  She graciously agreed to be interviewed about her work with adoptive and foster children and as a writer.  We talked about her involvement in the Sweetland series from Helping Hands Press and I play some excerpts from the two books I have recorded for her. Summer in Sweetland: Never Too Old and Roots and Wings at Loonstone Lake: Call of the Loon.  Thank you, “Dr.” Sue Badeau, for a wonderful Saturday afternoon and a fun interview.

Curt and Sandra Lovelace are veterans of over 30 years of pastoral and teaching ministry. Curt, who holds a Doctor of Ministry degree, has served as pastor and professor, while Sandra, with a Master’s degree in Education, has served at his side as education consultant. Their work together began at L’Abri Fellowship and has extended into the USA, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. During the Lovelaces’ child-raising years, they searched Scripture for a truly biblical approach to parenting. Now they are well-respected mentors for parents pursuing God’s call to disciple the next generation. The Lovelaces have also spent much of their 45+ years of marriage living amid other cultures, which has enriched their lives and given them love and appreciation for the diversity of God’s people. Currently making their home in Prague, Czech Republic, Curt and Sandra direct an international ministry through Lifework Forum (www.lifeworkforum.org).

Voice Actor George Taylor of Narration by George shares his thoughts.

    in Books

This week’s podcast comes courtesy of a blog posted by a young man studying at The Princeton Theological Seminary.  He asks the question which titles our podcast: How Would Jesus Date?  Intriguing to me.  Even better are the thoughts he shares with us.  Thank you, John Paul Cooke for sharing these thoughts and allowing me to use them in this podcast.

Born in Alabama, I was a gypsy for much of my life. I’ve been privileged to live in amazing places from Washington, D.C. to Orlando, FL, and even Minot N.D! I now make my home in the Chattanooga, TN area. I came here in 2000, and with the exception of a short sojourn away due to family responsibilities, this has become my adopted home town. (Check it out here.)

I have been a communicator all my life. Starting with theater in high-school and college, I have worked with people through sales and sales management or customer service positions for my entire professional life.

I am married with one son and a step-daughter and two granddaughters and a grandson on the way!
