Born and raised in Edinburg, Texas, Kimbley Callis was the first African American to graduate from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas with a music degree with an emphasis in Vocal Performance. She toured the U.S. as one of the lead soloists with the University Chorale, and has performed in churches and stages all across Texas, especially locally. She is an accomplished musician who can sing in six languages, is a songwriter, and plays basic piano.
She enjoys her ministry of helping others, mentoring At-Risk youths and loving and assisting the elderly. She truly believes in giving as exemplified when she was blessed to be a kidney donor to her uncle in at a young age.
Kimbley is a Vocal Trainer, a Choral Clinician, professional educator, and served four years as Vocal Director for the Theatre Youth Camp at the Carver Cultural Center in San Antonio, Texas. Her unique vocal styling has earned her the opportunities to perform the national anthem at home games for both the NBA Spurs and San Antonio Rampage.
In 2007 Kimbley’s fifth-grade class won a NBA song-writing competition that featured the song in a NBA commercial.
She is a member at “The Exciting West End Baptist Church,” where Rev. Dr. Michael A. Jolla is the Pastor, and she serves as Choir Director for the Youth & Adult Choirs.
She loves the Lord and realizes she can do and be nothing without Him.
Looking for a good musician to take your church music program to another level? How do you accomplish this task? What process do you use. Just an interview and a quick performance of what you can play is really not enough. One should consider having the prospective musician to rehearse with one of the choirs. This will be a test of their ability not only to play but to teach parts effectively. It will also test the preparedness and organization of the musician in question. What approach do they take when they teach new music. New music can be any music your group doesn't know or even new songs that have been recently released.
Whether singing in a church choir or sharing the stage with some of gospel music’s top recording artists, Andrea Dumas is a vessel for God’s song. Called to inspire and encourage through the vehicle of music, Andrea has been blessed to lend her voice to household names in the genre of sacred music. Now the gifted psalmist is stepping from the shadows into the spotlight with her brand new solo debut called Celebrate. With one listen to Dumas’ new release, it’s apparent that standing behind artists such as Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin and Richard Smallwood has served her well. Taking the listener from the excitement of praise to the passion of worship, Andrea Dumas provides an incredible experience for the Gospel music lover.
Hailing from Morristown, New Jersey, Andrea grew up in the church and in
a home that was full of music. Her mother, a church pianist, instilled a love for gospel music in her. When she was a child, her parents took her to hear college choirs and other artists when they were in town. The first time she heard a gospel choir sing “God Is”, she was hooked. A seed was planted which would ultimately change her life. When Andrea went to college in
the Washington, DC area, she realized just how much she loved to sing and joined the gospel choir. Being a member of the University of Maryland’s gospel choir was instrumental in cultivating her singing as well as drawing her closer to God.For Andrea Dumas, it all comes down to sharing the message of Christ. She says, “I believe that music can go places where sometimes words may not. As a background singer, I have seen the way music opens doors and gives access to audiences in ways that other means may not. Music is able to transcend barriers and I want to use music to soften people’s hearts for the word of God.”
