Shaping Special Hearts: Mental Health & the Church

    in Religion

Join us for our next show! May 19, 2015 at 12:00p.m. ET

Join host Vangie Rodenbeck as she interviews Dr. Stephen Grcevich on Mental Health & the Church. This show highlights ministry to children with special needs and seeks to resource, encourage, and empower those who minister to them.

Dr. Stephen Grcevich serves as Director of Strategic Initiatives and Medical Director of Key Ministry, a non-profit organization providing free training, consultation, resources, and support to help churches serve families of children with disabilities. He is a faculty member in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at two medical schools, leads a group practice in suburban Cleveland, and continues to be involved in research evaluating the safety and effectiveness of medications prescribed to children for ADHD, anxiety and depression. Dr. Grcevich is a past recipient of the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and was recently recognized by Sharecare as one of the top ten online influencers in children’s mental health.

Vangie began her journey in special needs advocacy when her son, Noah, was diagnosed with autism at age four; the same year she also began full-time ministry to children. Vangie has a B.S. in Christian Ministry and an M.A. in Contemporary Theology. Her thesis project, “Disability and the Image of God,” continued her desire to meld theology, practical ministry, and disability advocacy. She also serves as Executive Director of PURE Ministries. Vangie lives and ministers in Meridian, Idaho.
