Ish just got real. This week the Black Geeks review the 3rd installment in The Hunger Games franchise, "Mockingjay - Part 1", directed by Francis Lawrence. It's all out war for Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen as she becomes the official symbol of the Districts' rebellion against The Capitol. Featuring a very strong supporting cast, including the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman, Mockingjay-Part 1 is a bona fide action flick replete with explosions, psuedo-military combat jargon, and a very high body count. Tune in today at 3:30 and find out if this is worth your $16 or you should wait till it's streaming on Netflix in 3 months.
AreYouScreening.com and BFCA critic, Marc Eastman, and co-host extraordinaire, Shane Leonard, review The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.
It's obviously the thing everyone has been waiting for, and there's no avoiding the box office numbers this one is going to deliver, but is it really worth it? We were impressed with the first two, but is translating the third book into two movies going to work? Or, is this just the beginning of a two movie money grab of the latest franchise that happens to get people in theaters?
We'll let you know if you need to get to this one, and answer listener questions. We'll also keep you up on what's coming your way, and the upcoming award season

Born in the United Kingdom, in the South Wales market town of Abergavenny in 1970. Jason has always been fascinated by science and the unexplained. During the nineties he researched a lot of UFO sightings both in the UK and the Unites States of America. In 1995 he embarked on a road trip to the state of Nevada to learn the truth about Area 51. A massive fan of The X Files and Dark Skies and science fiction Jason started to write in the early nineties. Articles for various UFO and paranormal themed magazines.
In 2012 Jason discovered Amazon Kindle Direct publishing and set about rewriting The Angel Committee developing and entire franchise focussing on the UFO phenomenon, and the government cover up. Who should make the decision on whether or not your kids are given psychotropic drugs? The powerful pharmaceutical industry has government and medical officials in their back pocket....and they do what they are told to do. They are dispensing harmful psychotropic drugs to veterans, children and everyday people that cause them to committ suicides and homicides. A host of adverse effects are known to us all...just watch some of the commercials that tell us of delayed backache, suicide risks, erections that last for hours. These warnings are real and your children could be forced by CPS and other governement officals to take these drugs anyway.
Listen to my interview with Fred Shaw a former Sherriff with the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department as he discusses how your childen can be forced to take harmful drugs. Mr. Shaw is the Co-founder of World Literacy Crusade, an international organization with the purpose of eradicatng poverty and hopelessness in inner cities and around the world. He is past President of the Compton Branch of the NAACP where he lobbied Congress alongside of Citizen's Commission on Human Rights in support of the Child Medication act, This gives parents the right to refuse psychiatric drugs on their children. He is co founder of Basic Life Institute and organization that serves at risk youth. This show has been coordinated inconjunction with the Citizens' Commisson on Human Rights. http://www.cchr.org.
While George "the Howitzer" Gerbo always tries to see the good in things and be optimistic, Mike "the Buzz-saw" Asti keeps it real! Most don't like the brutal truth. Well if you don't want honesty, don't listen to the Howitzer & Buzz-saw Show!
The Robert Griffin III love affair is over. Another week, another lack luster performance and soundbite drama from RGIII. Have even his most loyal supporters (cough, George), jumped ship? Not just the fans, but have the Redskins decided they need a new future at quarterback? What is the future of RGIII and the Redskins, both together, or apart? There's been a regression on the field, while at the same time, there's been a steady increase of immaturity and asininity from Robert Griffin III.
From perhaps the most asinine franchise of the year (again), to a more stable organization competition wise, but one that is no stranger to controversy. The Pittsburgh Steelers released LeGarrette Blount. An offseason encounter with the law and walking out on his team prior to a game became too much. Days later Blount was signed by the team he powered to the playoffs a season ago, the New England Patriots. Was bouncing Blount the right decision for Pittsburgh? How will his second Patriots tenure go?
College football chaos never takes a week off. Did the committee get the current playoff bracket right? Now with a loss, what can Mississippi State do to remain in the top four? How comfortable should Alabama be? Could Ohio State quietly sneak in?
They bring you a heavy dose of reality. They are the Howitzer and Buzz-saw. They conquer sports radio, one day, at a time....
