Community violence includes many events. It might be a stranger using physical threat or direct violence to take something or hurt someone. It can also be violence between family members, close partners, or peers. These events may include cruel acts such as being shot, raped, stabbed, or beaten.
Most of the attention from media and research is on community violence that involves adults. However, many children and teens face violence in their neighborhoods and schools. Such violence can have effects on children.
How much community violence do children face?

How are you encouraging kids or teenagers to be successful? Today's teens and yes even little kids need to be encouraged just like you were. Tune to discuss this hot topic. Who's encouraging our kids?
Adolescence is a time of growth, development and change. Your teen will develop emotionally and socially as well as physically. This development may seem seamless to you, but there are distinct things happening in your teenager's social and emotional development that are helping them become who they are going to be - helping them to form their identity. While these changes don't follow a timeline to the date of your teen's birthday - your 14-year-old may still act like a 13-year-old socially - teens of different ages do have different social and emotional focuses andbehaviors. Here we have a list of them by age.
Thirteen-year-old teens are dealing with the physical changes in their body - puberty - emotionally as well as physically. Change is not easy for most people at any age and your 13-year-old is dealing with one of the biggest changes of their lives. This will cause your young teen to feel uncertain, moody and be sensitive to what others think of them, especially their peers.
This show will be at 4:00 pm U.S. Eastern and 9:00 pm U.K.

Tonight on The Gist of Freedom www.BlackHistoryUniversity.com, Meet Jamel Robinson! After spending 21 years in the foster care system without being adopted, he beat the odds and is now a successful child welfare reform advocate.
This show is dedicated to Amanda Berry Smith 1837-1915
devoted her life to the ministry of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. Her most noted achievement is the opening of the first orphanage for black children in Illinois.
In 1899, the orphanage opened its doors to homeless African American girls. The 12-room brick house that served as the orphanage was the first of its kind in Illinois.
The community at large was receptive to Smith’s evangelical message and supported the presence of the orphanage. By 1910, the building housed 33 children, up from 12 in 1900
In Harvey, Illinois, a suburb founded by temperance groups south of Chicago, Smith took up the duties of the national representative for the WCTU, and wrote her life’s story. An Autobiography: The Story of the Lord’s Dealings with Mrs. Amanda Smith, the Colored Evangelist was published in 1893. Through book sales, donations, and lecturing fees, she began to raise money for a new cause: an orphanage for black children. She founded and distributed a small newspaper, The Helper, in order to generate publicity and income for the orphanage and other worthy charities
Hear interview with two children whose parents awakened to the fact that the schools they trusted has now become a place of intimidation. All states education system is under fire to follow the edicts of the Common Core Standards Initiative. Teachers and principals are now having to choose between children and jobs. Many are failing and when that happens who will protect the child? This great nation that sacrificed so much and fought to keep this nation and others free are now finding the enemy is within and of all place in a domain that used to be held in high esteem. Esteem that has now turned to incredulity as surely teachers and principals that used to promote creativity and learning are becoming tools for rigidity placing invisible straight jackets on the minds and bodies of future citizens. Can America's future be free? Not if we ignore the plain truths our children are hoping we will see and hear. Listen to their testimony and pray you can overcome waiting for the fix to happen another day and through another person. May God help us if we don't see the problem is US today. This week we just saw where Texas rejected David Coleman's Advance Placement US History..the same David Coleman who authored Common Core. The Bible says by their fruits you shall know them--Common Core is rotten/ Please listen to these children as they unravel the rotten truths.
