Tonight's special guest guest is Chuck Prinzen from Fairfield California, a survivor and activist who, as an educator, has worked with youth for many years. His current project, Me Inc Now, is being developed to offer guidance to teens (and their parents). Chuck says whet he survived "cycles of life," and says his story of abuse is no different than many others who have experienced abuse, the same torment, pain, feelings of loneliness and despair. "My journey from nothingness to a fulfilling life was not altered by one specific event," he writes, "but a series of events over many years, change came one thought at a time. It was not till I was older that I could clearly see the past; they say that hindsight is twenty-twenty, mine was not, it was blurry." He goes on, "The first step to seeing the past clearly was when a kindhearted gift of love was given to me by a stranger." Chuck's principal goal to help instill self-worth, self-esteem, and self-respect in today's youth, and that's that Me.Inc.Now (me expressing I need change now) is all about! The mission of Me.Inc.Now is to instill self-worth, self-esteem, and self-respect in today's youth. A brighter future can be achieved by incorporating cultural change in our youth of today through understanding lessons of the past to bridge the ever growing generation gap. Change is built upon a foundation of communication, listening, and love. Me.Inc.Now is committed to inspiring positive thoughts and breaking cycles of anger and resentment that prevent young individuals from being the best version of themselves. "I am thankful for learning that “love” is most the powerful tool in my emotional toolbox," Chuck writes, no more sorrow and loneliness, no more bruises, no more pain, no more fear.

Think it’s easy being a kid these days? Think again: peer pressure, social pressure, finances, bullying, divorce, standardized testing, guns, drugs, school violence, abusive adults, low self-esteem, and more. These are many of the same problems that adults face, but as adults we typically have coping skills. But even though adults have coping skills, many still have difficulty dealing with these situations. So how do we expect kids to effectively handle these situations? More importantly, how and where do kids learn the social and emotional skills they need to cope with the life challenges they will ultimately face? The lucky kids will meet Staci Ellis, a child and adult psychotherapist who specializes in trauma. Years ago, Staci created a mock brochure for her young nephew which provided advice and preparation for life challenges. From that idea, Staci developed Life Stuff for Kids, a forum for kids to express and exchange thoughts on life challenges. Kids need to know they have someone to turn to for help and resources to get them through life’s difficulties. Staci Ellis knows more than most on that subject. She began as a Therapeutic Support Staff with a non-profit, served hundreds of families as a Mobile Therapist and Behavior Specialist for 15 years, then became a Trauma Therapist working with kids and adults. She taught parents and school staff behavior management skills and provided professional training on Trauma and Children to bachelor, masters, and doctoral level attendees, and facilitated a class for separating parents called Children in the Middle. After the interview, please check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.

Gospel singer James "J.J." Hairston is the leader, chief songwriter, and director of the Youthful Praise choir, known for its exuberant, urban-tinged gospel and praise & worship songs. Formed in 2001 out of Turner's Faith Temple in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the choir was originally known as Teens of TFT, and released a debut album, Awesome God, that same year on Evidence Gospel. A second album, Thank You for the Change, which featured a guest spot by Coko, arrived in 2004, followed by Live! The Praise...The Worship, a year later in 2005. Television appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Bobby Jones Gospel, and performances with Joan Osborne, Shirley Caesar, and Destiny's Child increased the choir's visibility and fan base, as did its exuberant, energetic live shows and urban affinities. Exalted, recorded live in Baltimore, Maryland, was released on both CD and DVD in 2007. It would be five years before their next album, After This, arrived in the spring of 2012, with I See Victory following two years later in 2014. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
