Where does one begin with a vocalist of this ability - and magnitude? Are they the same in the case of Indra Rios-Moore? Born in the Lower East Side of New York, Indra's Puerto Rican Mom (who named her after a Hindu deity of sky and rain) would keep her indoors. She was afraid of the dangers OUTSIDE. So, little Indra would entertain herself with Mom's vast collection of Rock, Soul and Jazz - that latter, we're supposing, partly influenced by Indra's Dad. Of African-American/Syrian descent - a Jazz bassist: Donald Moore.
Through her teen years, Indra found herself in fascinating evolution. She had truly been fearful of being on stage - and she was working through that. Also, because of the early promise that Indra had shown regarding her talent, she was studying classical arias - as well as American Folk songs at camp. Combined with what was already immersed as inspiration as a child, her inner repertoire expanded.
At 26, she met Danish Jazz saxophonist, Benjamin Traerup. A year later, they were married and living in Denmark. And Indra's career began to take shape. Benjamin and his transplanted wife formed a trio - with bassist, Thomas Sejthen. The attention that they received translated into accolades, nominations, and then a gift: the Danish Music Award for Best Jazz Vocal. Three albums later, Indra is continuing to receive praise. Her voice and the Hybrid sensibility that has always been part of her soul couldn't have arrived at a better time.
When you hear "Heartland", you will hear the echoes of the past (Motown and Pink Floyd). You'll hear multiple languages. And you'll feel Church. As Indra has said: singing helps her move to an emotional place "where the mind doesn't interfere."

Mariea Antoinette is bringing an entirely unique sound to R&B and contemporary jazz: her soulful harp. Offering a Straight From The Harp:” seduces and sways with refreshingly distinctive sounds placed in a seldom heard context that will change your perception of the ancient stringed instrument. Antoinette partnered with Emmy-winning and two-time Grammy-nominated producer-songwriter Allan Phillips
The exotic mid-tempo original “Fly Away” introduces Antoinette’s thesis that the ethereal harp can bring exciting new sonic dynamics to urban-jazz grooves. Phillips and Antoinette sped up the cadence on “Rock Wit ‘Cha” while adding celebratory harmonies. Another original, “Slick urban nuances propel Curtis Mayfield’s inviting “Give Me Your Love.” Vocalist Chanel Fields penned “A Single Dance,” an R&B vocal cut decorated with gossamer strands of Antoinette’s sparkling harp riffs. Saxophonist Reggie Codrington contributed a couple tunes to the record, including “Spend Some Time (With You),” a romantic overture that he wrote with Phillips. The ‘70s classic “Boogie Nights” starts with a swinging jazz ride before rampaging through a sweltering workout of exultant booty shaking. “Journey” is the first of two mystical solo harp mediations with the title track being the other. Syncopated R&B rhythms provide the flowing undercurrent for Antoinette to float funky harp flourishes on Barry White’s “I’m Gonna Love You.”.

Patrick Wilson and Paul Wilson join host Robin Milling to talk about their film Big Stone Gap. It was a labor of love for the Wilson brothers who's family roots are steeped in the small Virginian town. As children they recall spending summers with their grandparents who lived in Big Stone Gap. They tell Robin it was bittersweet to return to the place of their fondest childhood memories to shoot the movie, even staying in the house where they summered. Patrick says, 'It's really been the most personal project I've ever been a part of.' Paul tells Robin the story of how the Wilson family has been immortalized in the town with 'Wilson Road,' and the 'Paul J. Wilson' bridge named for their grandfather. In fact their grandparents were friends with the parents of writer/director Adrianna Trigiani who waited until Patrick was old enough to play the part, to make the film of her book.
Patrick and Paul's collaboration goes beyond movies, as they also have a band called The Wilson Van along with their brother Mark playing renditions of Van Halen songs.
Big Stone Gap also stars Ashley Judd, Whoopi Goldberg, Jane Krakowski, Jenna Elfman, and John Benjamin Hickey.
