"Raising Peaceful Children" is a topic I'm very passionate. It has been a central theme in my parenting and teaching for over four decades! Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing with you, various practices which are supportive to "Raising Peaceful Children".
If you are important in the life of a child, I invite you to tune in. If inspired, call in and share an insight or a precious moment you shared with a child.
PRACTICE 21: Guiding Principles for Parents! As I was reviewing various articles from my column in the West County Gazette, Listening 2 Children, I came across a list of "Principles to Live By". As I read through them, I realized their importance or parents. Today, I will cover various aspects of how such principles play a role in the life of an adult...a parent. Tomorrow, I will do the same in respect to children.
Sharon Ann Wikoff is a teacher, consultant, writer, and motivational speaker specializing in the fields of parenting, communicating with young children, self-esteem and personal transformation. She is the author of two eBooks: The ART of Communicating with Infants and Young Children and The ART of Listening to Children: The 10 Minute Miracle. She also writes a blog, Raising Peaceful Children. Sharon is passionate about bringing great attention to the state of PEACE so we can truly learn to appreciate, honor and respect this state of being!
Join us tonight as we speak with Gregg Clark of "Where Shadows Walk" tours of Franklin, North Carolina.. You can visit his website at whereshadowswalk.com..
“Ghost tours can be rich and insightful, but they can be absolutely hokey,” explained Clark, whose mix of academic specificity, down-to-earth look and flair for weaving authoritative, captivating yarns, is anything but hokey. “We want everyone to know that this is not silly. These are so real, and the stories are grisly. Some of them are horrific and horrifying, but they’re real, and they represent chapters in the life of this town. They’re rich; they’re gritty; they’re real.”
The real-life history of Macon County, said Clark, is a sometimes ghastly, always intriguing tapestry of narratives that doesn’t need embellishing as much as it needs uncovering. So while Clark and his wife, Pauletta, may be the ones unearthing the past, they’re really just helping the past speak for itself.
For the Clarks, both teachers, what they do now is just an extension of a long-held love of history and a desire to fill a niche they’ve long lamented was empty.
Clark is a Macon County native who yearned for local history that he wasn’t getting in school.
Tomorrow is run-off day in Georgia and thank goodness for it. I am over all the attack ads by Kingston and Perdue. But while the state has been focused on all those ads, we've had plenty going on locally. Tomorrow is also public hearing day on the Paulding County Chairman's Budget. Are all the increases in spending really necessary? What will the Douglasville City Council do about Chief Chris Womack speaking to the media? Was Womack right or wrong when speaking to the media? And has Douglas County not learned anything from what is going on in Paulding? It appears as though the county is ready to spend a lot more taxpayer money for Foxhall. We'll discuss all of this and much more, so don't miss a minute. As usual, we'll have plenty of awesome music by Liberty minded artists to keep us upbeat and motivated.
A program for holding elected officials accountable regardless of party, and vetting candidates so that voters make a more informed choice at the polls.
On tonight's show:
Red Maryland's Choose Sugar campaign may be having an effect as Nanny Ken Ulman has revised the restrictions on sugary drinks at public events. Sort of. We'll discuss.
The Republican mayor of Annapolis has a great piece in the local paper showing how elected Republicans can bring fiscal responsibility to a deeply blue area like the city of Annapolis. An example of a winning message for Republicans in the most Democratic parts of the state.
Bringing an elected school board to Anne Arundel county has been a pet project of Red Maryland for years. Now a local candidate for the House of Delegates promises to fight for an elected school board if elected.
The Hogan for Governor campaign is making a push in Montgomery County. Can Hogan top the 40% threshold there? Does he need to do so to win? We'll discuss.
A celebration of the life of James Garner. Decorated war veteran, iconic actor and devoted Raiders fan, James Garner was a national treasure and will be missed. We'll play some clips from his best performances.
