Special Broadcast With Pastor Keithron Powell - CEO of IGARA

    in Religion

Tonight, I welcome Pastor Keithron Powell, CEO of IGARA (Independent Gospel Artists Radio Alliance). Our discussion will be about music that is produced using IGARA's new process called IGARA Virtual Studio.

Pastor Powell will have three guests joining him on this evening's broadcast, who will discuss their music, which was created by using the new process, Igara Virtual Studio. These artists are; Jenise LaVonne ("Say About Me"), Petula Beckles ("Sinner's Cry") and DaVone Ministry ("This Far").

Keithron D. Powell was raised in Detroit, MI and is married to Teresa Powell of Beckley, WV. He began playing the drums at age 16 and at age 18, the piano. "Thirty days after receiving my first keyboard I wrote my first song and it was horrible! But I did it and I was so proud of it. I thought the song was awesome but when I showed it to my former pastor (who is an acclaimed songwriter and musician), he explained to me, in a nice way, that the song wasn't that good. What he said to me next, was exactly what I needed to here. He said a song can be anything you make it as the creator, but just because you write it doesn't mean others have to like it. He taught me not to think about myself when writing but to consider the listener as well. For me that was important. That's how my song writing career began".

    in Health

Tune in to hear Dr. LaVonne Goodman speak about the psychiatric symptoms often associated with Huntington's disease. This is the first show to kick off a series of shows, "Breaking the Stigma, Let's Talk Psychiatric Symptoms."  One thing that was loud and clear at the FDA Patient-Focus Drug Development meeting this last year is HD families want the FDA to understand the challenges they face with the psychiatric symptoms. The Huntington's Study Group's annual conference had a whole session focused on this very subject. We are looking forward to hearing Dr. Goodman speak about this important topic.

    Huntington's Disease Care
Posted January 10, 2016 by LaVonne Veatch Goodman, M.D.

There have been a number of studies about the impact and burden of Huntington's disease (HD) on both those affected and their family carers. Though there are many other factors, the major recurring theme boils down to "lack of care".  This includes lack of access to HD subspecialty medical care, lack of community medical or service provider knowledge about HD, and lack of support for family or other carers.  It is unfortunate that the magnitude of burden imposed by "lack of care" for HD has not substantially changed over the two decades or so covered in these studies.

Tune in for a very interesting and eucational program.
