Family Time with Mike Dee & Darrel Gardner Horsemanship Show

    in Social Networking

    The Mike Moore Show

The President of the Lone Star High Steppers

    8:30 PM to 10:30 PM

Darrell Gardner's Horsemanship was founded upon four principles:

    Showing Your Horse Love
By expressing love to your horse it helps to build a good relationship and strong bond. This will lead to a better response from your horse.

    Gaining Respect
If you don't have respect on the ground, you won't have it on the saddle. Respect is an essential part of horsemanship and it begins with good ground manners

    Teaching Obedience
Obedience comes with consistent training. This teaches your horse what you expect and how to quickly respond to the cues given.

Loyalty between the horse and trainer
It all begins with gaining trust. Your initial approach is extremely important. It takes patience and time to get your horse to gain faith in you.

This evening’s Round Table discussion will be on the subject of “conscious co-creation”, a fancy name for how we can advance human evolution sufficiently quickly enough to avoid the much-discussed 6th Extinction even though signs of it are already in our midst, what with Climate Change, radical speed of species going extinct daily, icecaps melting, natural catastrophes occurring world-wide and economic and political systems so corrupt and disparate numerous economists believe that these systems are already in collapse.

    Teen Talk Tuesday- Learned Helplessness

    in Education

Learned helplessness occurs when an animal is repeatedly subjected to an aversive stimulus that it cannot escape. Eventually, the animal will stop trying to avoid the stimulus and behave as if it is utterly helpless to change the situation. Even when opportunities to escape are presented, this learned helplessness will prevent any action. The impact of learned helplessness has been demonstrated in a number of different animal species, but its effects can also be seen in people. Consider one often-used example: A child who performs poorly on math tests and assignments will quickly begin to feel that nothing he does will have any effect on his math performance. When later faced with any type of math-related task, he may experience a sense of helplessness.

Surviving On Shoestrings - How we Survived a Year without Income or Savings.

    in Lifestyle

Brought to you by PREPARE Magazine - Visit & Sign up for your FREE Digital Subscription!

If your first thought was that we lived on our savings, think again.  Here are some bullet points of what route we chose to go when we were faced with no income for a full year:

We did not have a savings to live from
We did not go on a government assistance program
We did not move in with family to avoid mortgage or rent
We did not split up our family to handle the situation.

Some of the things we did do were:

    Live off the garden.
    Waste NO food.
    Barter food items.
Sell off most of our belongings.
    Downsize to one car.
    Cut out most entertainment.

You'll have to listen to the show to hear how we did this...

Have fun and enJOY the journey!

    #038: Thyroid 101 - Dr Michael Ruscio

    in Health

We all know that we've got a thyroid, and we might have heard of things like hypothyroidism Hashimoto's thyroiditis, but it's a little-understood organ. What does it actually do, where does it live, what does it feel like if it doesn't work properly and what can we do to help it?

Functional medicine expert Dr Michael Ruscio joins me on this week's episode of the show to talk about how to care for your thyroid, the Paleo link to improving your overall health, why iodine and the chemicals added to tap water can cause you to become fatigued and gain weight, and how soft drink companies have the best business model in the world for getting you addicted to their products.

    We covered:

    - The best self-care strategies for your thryoid (and self-destruct habits to avoid)

    - How the thyroid can be the missing link to your weight loss

    - The impact of high-iodine 'healthy' foods such as milk and eggs on your overall feeling of well-being
