Dr. Robert L. Weber: The Spirituality of Age

    in Spirituality

Robert L. Weber, Ph.D., the co-author of the new book The Spirituality of Age: A Seeker's Guide to Growing Older, addresses ways to embrace the shadow side of aging, while opening up to spiritual growth.  Co-authored with Carol Orsborn, Ph.D., The Spirituality of Age insightfully explores meaningful personal reflections and 25 key questions, revealing that true growth arises through directly engaging with the fears and challenges aging brings our way.  When we open up to the possibilities of feeling energized as we age, we can expand more freely into our authentic selves and discover the spiritual opportunities of growing older.

Robert (Bob) is a former Jesuit and an assistant professor of psychology, part-time, at Harvard Medical School. He also serves as a faculty member of Massachusetts General Hospital's Department of Psychiatry.  He is the 2014 recipient of the American Society on Aging’s FORSA Award (Forum on Religion, Spirituality and Aging) recognizing his leadership, locally and nationally, in exploring the role of spirituality and religion in the aging services field.  Bob has earned many honors and has held several prominent leadership roles throughout his academic and professional career.  He has a private psychological practice in Cambridge, MA.

Talk to literary agent, Jeanie L oiacono, and author, James Washburn

    in Spirituality

A facilitator of dreams, Jeanie Loiacono represents over sixty authors. Her forte is mystery, romance, thrillers, historical/military/southern fiction, and all quality fiction/nonfiction. Her passion is to see her authors succeed.”I am a facilitator of dreams.”

“There is nothing more rewarding than to hold one of my author’s books and know I helped bring it to fruition. I am so blessed and privileged to be able to work with some of the most talented writers in the world.

James Washburn was born and raised in rural Wisconsin, initiating an intimate rapport with the natural environment and life in the North Country. Drawing from his connections to native North American Indian and Inuit people, as well as a deep personal spiritual history in traditional Christianity, he weaves a story that transcends ethnicity and culture. He speaks to the universal desires of the human heart with simplicity and passion.

“Life is too important to spend it making a living” – has been Washburn’s mantra since youth. Choosing a three-decade career in education gave him time for extensive travel and experience within many of the most remote corners of North America. His appreciation for solitude and a self-reliant nature, however, belie his enthusiasm to promote an understanding of humanity’s interdependence and the unity of all people. Washburn’s education includes degrees in geography, health, and learning resources along with extensive scholarly study in historical theology and psychology. He is also an able photographer and experienced speaker. His current communion with Mother Earth has been a complete hike of the approximate 1,200 mile long Ice Age trail.

    Show Overview:

An interview with MR. JEFFREY L PAGE

NCEBC wants to welcome the full village to question, understand, and ask questions, about governance, educational policy, finances,  resources, and  the basic democratic principles of equity, fairness, and justice. It is important (if not, vital) that we have this conversation to continue to dispel the myth that black children are incapable of achieving high test scores,  therefore public schools are incapable of providing quality education.

"We believe in accountability. We believe that data drives decision-making. We believe in research-based practices. These principles have been used for generations by high performing schools, principals and Superintendents; especially those working and succeeding in urban communities were poverty and race are the dominant elements. This conversation is about the politics, power, economics, and restructuring of a public school system into a charter school system."

Diana Daniels, Executive Director, National Council on Educating Black Children

Brutally Uncut: Online Dating (Pros/Cons/Tips) Ep. 4

    in Romance

Dating in this Digital Age can sometimes feel so cumbersome. It’s just down right inconvenient. We don’t have time to mingle and even when we are mingling we are more obsessed with what is happening on the web than having a real interaction with people in our physical space.

The world we live in today is all about convenience. If I can’t get it when I want/need and customize it how I want it, most of us are just not interested. This ideology is truer for those of us that live in big cities and work 9-7 jobs . You spend most of your time at work and pursing our careers. When do you have time to grab a drink and ask someone how was their day? or better yet, even care? Frankly we have enough going on in our lives already.

This is why there it is no surprise that online dating has become one of the most popular and secretive past times for single young adults. There are thousands of sites all over the place both free and paid for all lifestyles and preferences. It seems like now online dating/hookups has become the new way of life.

Don’t get it misconstrued. Online dating is not a new phenom. I remember the days of dial up on AOL when that random person would hit you up with “A/S/L?”. Today it is not uncommon to hear someone say that they met or even married someone that they met online whether it be from a dating site or social media platform like Facebook or Instagram; hence the term “sliding in the someone’s DM’s”.

Join Brutally Uncut host, Tameeka Henry as she gives her perspective on online dating , the pros, the cons, Do’s and Don’ts. What to avoid and how to just enjoy it.

    It's About Time

    in Parents

This is a program worth listening to...a dad called in to provide us with an update on his first attempt at Plan B with his son...he heard concerns from his son that a wooden spoon (the primary problem-solving tool from the father's upbringing) wouldn't have addressed. But the key theme for the day was TIME: Plan B saves it, but it takes time and planning to get that ball rolling.
