Bouncing Back: Patricia Pearson, How Improv Changed my Life

    in Self Help

Patricia Pearson chose the solitary life of an illustrator and visual artist.  She tried for a long time to ignore her need to perform, participate and be seen in the the world.  She found it easier to show up on a canvas or in a drawing than in real life. Better to remain invisible than claim a place on centre stage. That is, until her need for self-expression in the form of performing overcame her. And then an improv workshop came calling...

Today Patricia is a co-active coach, coaching artists of all kinds. An improviser, teacher, producer. She has performed with many improv groups including BATS Improv in San Francisco .  She shares her story of finding a voice, a purpose, and a way to serve others while thriving in her own life. Learn how improv can develop lasting change and quiet our egos, fears, and anxieties.

  • A Conversation With Lamont Bagfeel

    in Indie Music

Hippie Control featuring Lamont Bagfeel, has been delivering genre-defining music in a number of styles for years.  Their music catches everyone’s attention because of its infectious grooves that continually repeat through a person’s mind.  With their catchy hook, soaring vocals, and signature sound, they are solidifying their position as one of the regions best indie bands.  They have won over fans and critics alike with the hybrid rock/R&B sound they introduced on the release of Lamont’s 2014, “Identity”. The first EP single “Just Want To Be With You” was released digitally all over world gaining him huge recognition for his new creation of sound in R&B music.

Lamont Bagfeel is a multitalented singer, songwriter, producer and musician.  He began his musical journey at the age of 8 as a church drummer. Soon after, his passion for the piano and organ would be kindled while listening to Carlton Pearson’s organist on Live at AZUSA.  Lamont became determined to learn and play the organ when someone told him that playing organ was too hard, and that he would never be able to understand it.  The same passion is displayed in his journey to share his music.

Create lasting moment is what Hippie Control does.  They shows no signs of slowing down as they continue to create moments for the fans and merge urban sensibilities into infectious grooves allowing their fans to escape reality for that moment.

A Message of Hope from an Adoption House and the Pope

    in Politics Conservative

We are living in a time when so many people feel that so many things are going wrong and we are on a downward spiral. What are we to do when our backs are up against the wall? There is an old saying that "God may not come when you want Him, but He is always on time." Isn’t it good to know that He is bigger than any problem or issue we may face and that He always has a plan for us? This week, Kelsey and Randy Bohlender will be our guests to talk about how God's plan unfolded in their lives. They are the parents of ten children, six of whom they adopted. On Thursday, they celebrate the Grand Opening of Zoe’s House Adoptions, which they started to help others "navigate the complex world of adoption and bring a child into their home." We will also review Pope Francis' visit and message to America.

Tune in to The Right Voice for the live show with Glo Smith and Adrienne Ross from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eastern/7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central every Tuesday. Become part of the conversation by calling in to (646) 200-3715 to comment and ask questions. If you miss the live show, remember that each broadcast is archived, so you may listen to the podcast at any time that is convenient for you.

Midwifery: Life's Work or Living Wage?

    in Religion

Midwives have been around for thousands of years coming alongside women during their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum time.  The women in the community would be there for the mom to help her and take care of her.  They would even have help for the dad.  Everyone was focused on one thing:  caring for the family.  Today, the focus (in general) has shifted.  Maybe the shift happened when all the certifying agencies told us that you're not really ready to be a midwife until you're certified through this organization or that degree program.  Or maybe it shifted when midwifery became a profession.

What if God is calling YOU back to the original purpose of being a midwife instead of being so focused on earning a "living wage"?  Listen this week as Dr Pauline and Catherine discuss the Biblical foundations of midwifery during National Midwives Week.

As always, we welcome your comments and questions through Facebook (Dunamas Center Ministries), and Twitter (@YourDunamasLife).

Watch for Dr Pauline's new book, "Won't Somebody Please Hear Me?  Healing from Birth Traumatomology Syndrome"...Coming soon!
Our BRAND NEW website is almost ready at www.dunamascenter.com and we are so excited for you to see it!  We'll let you know when it goes live!

The Barbershop: Good riddance to superstition part 3!

    in Christianity

Welcome back to the Barbershop this week the Men of ICE continue their conversation "Good riddance to superstition"

The guys at ICE Ministries have continued to stress the need for change in the Black community. The church has always been a source of change for us. But how much can we change when we keep believing the wrong things? Christianity is about faith--not superstition. Yet there are tons of beliefs we have in the Body of Christ that lean more toward fears than they do faith! We're scared of demons in music, scared of demons in movies, and scared of demons in Muslims and Mormons. We play Last Airbender in the pulpit, and have practices closer to mesmerism than ministry. We keep trying to play Pin The Tail on the Anti-Christ or Guess When Jesus Comes Back. No more games! It's time to shake off superstition and embrace the historic Christian faith! We will be attacking and debunking superstitions in the church--this Sunday, in The Barbershop!
